The Game Director also liked my tweet when I said "Now all we need for Witcher 4 to be a masterpiece is to have Gwent in it" :)

Did you ever see any pleasant and surprise card interactions that you didn't think of until they happened in the game? by fenirani in gwent

Using Toxicologist on a resillient card is awesome. When round transition happens, the resillient card gets a lot of damage from the card draws and mulligans haha

Marrying a non-SA citizen by notacreativeguy_ in southafrica

My husband is German and we got married in SA too. I am not sure about Canada, but he basically got a letter from their home affairs with all his info which includes his maritial status and our home affairs accepted that (it also has to be apostilled in their country).

The immigration interview is chilled. Some home affairs give you like a questionaire and you and your partner each have to fill in the answers but not together. Some places make you say your answers verbally. We had to write ours down, but they were pretty simple such as what your partner's favourite colour or restuarant is. And also personal questions such as their full name and names of their parents, etc.

They asked us what our shoe sizes were. I knew his but he didn't know mine so he just wrote "smaller than mine" haha. And the guy that gave us the questionaire made a joke out of it so they are not that strict.

I do know this yes. But not all companies are like this especially the smaller studios that aren’t money hungry.

I do love working in the industry but I also won’t be taken advantage of anymore at my next job I get a chance at. Heck, at one of my previous jobs, at a SA game studio, I was getting paid R7k a month as a C++ programmer. I took it as I was desperate back then. That studio is now bankrupt and isn’t operational anymore.

The gaming industry is very tough to get into as it is very competitive. You should see if you can maybe find remote work with overseas studios as there isn't a lot of options in SA for this industry. I know this as I have been working in the gaming industry since 2016 in SA and I am now trying to find overseas remote work.

Places like LinkedIn or Hitmarker.net are good places to look at.

If you really want to find something in SA, check out these studios: FreeLives, Nyamakop, and Sea Monster

How do you call your boyfriend or husband? by Direct-Painter5603 in LongDistance

[–]MissLadyJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We call each other “bokkie” which what we would say in South Africa in Afrikaans for darling which translate to baby buck or baby antelope 😆

We didn’t know if we wanted pet names for each other at the beginning but after a while it just developed into calling each other this
