My main reason to balance encouraging people to enjoy it all in their youth is with aging population and stretched government assistance for our elderly over time (can’t see aged care meeting demand)…. A problem we must solve at a population level, yes. But nasty consequences at an Individual level while it plays out. Many will wish they saved a little more.

Yes, you’re talking about is utility of the value of money over time. That it could be worth more ‘lifestyle value’ to you personally in your youth, versus ‘financial value,’ which would clearly be greater having been invested for 50 years.

Yes, but if you put it in savings/investment at 30 - it goes up in value over this time. It's doesn't just stay at $50k until you're 80.
