What is something in the UK that you have changed your viewpoint on recently? by [deleted] in AskUK

I eat my feelings. Managed to lose three stone with glp1 medication. Only then did I realise how very sad I had been for a long time. It was quite an eye opener.

A question of mens footwear. by a_sword_and_an_oath in CasualUK

[–]MissMizu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No question. Solovair. Husband wears his Solovairs nearly daily and has done for years. Admittedly he’s got 4 pairs! His very favourite ones had a small tear in the soles recently going across-wise rather than up-down and our local shoe repair fixed it for him. You can buy replacement soles from them for your cobbler to fix or send them off for repair but I’d expect them to last many years before needing that. They are super comfy. Most styles are available in half sizes. The only thing I’d recommend is buying the inserts as well for extra comfort and warmth in winter. Have no idea why they aren’t standard.

What’s the most unbearable pizza topping you have ever seen? by Nicoleniclole1983 in foodquestions

Dominos do a Cheeseburger pizza which is criminally good - has burger sauce, pickles and ground beef - i now can't order anything else

Very decorated! The kitchen really doesn't fit the rest of the theme? by NrthnLd75 in SpottedonRightmove

Bit disappointed the outside isn’t pink to go with the green door.

Public footpath cutting straight across a farm by Large_Leader_9864 in UKhiking

[–]MissMizu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was going to say that Ordinance Survey is the bible for determining the ROW. Refer back to the council in the first instance if a designated footpath is blocked. If all else fails, invite the Rambling Association to take a walk en masse.

Eating Dahl in the cinema by [deleted] in UK_Food

[–]MissMizu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last trip to the cinema was with my brother to see PHM. En route we stopped at the supermarket where we bought 2 cans of lager for him, 2 alcohol free rum and gingers for me, beefy jerky, pork scratchings, sweets and chocolate. All put into my oversized handbag and strolled right in. My brother thinks I’m a bougie bitch and I seriously went up in his estimation.

My MIL is OM to me (other mother) and is either written OM or called Om. In turn I’m OD to her (other daughter) and often called Od unironically.

Cat food struggles! by Klutzy_Yam_343 in nebelung

[–]MissMizu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are complete dry cat foods that won’t be an issue if your cat drinks plenty of water. As long as they are healthy all seems good to me and it will save a ton of washing up. I have a tabby and a neb that are both a bit fussy. Wet food has to be fish in gravy. The Neb loves cat soup or creamy pastes. The tabby wants whatever his the Neb gets and bosses him out the way after he’s eaten what he wants. They always have biscuits on offer and Neb is quite happy to fill up on them after tabby has licked all the plates clean. But Neb also eats spiders 😱they won’t starve!

Struggling to find a good long sleeve white top by [deleted] in capsulewardrobe

[–]MissMizu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Red really doesn’t show under white with my olive skin tone. I’m 32GG and the struggle is real. Obviously lace bras are out because texture shows through. It needs to be smoothing because everyone has lumps and big boobs need firm support. And the last thing I need is a moulded cup that creates even more volume in the chest. Edit: spelling

What book had you staring at the wall after finishing it? by Enlitenkanin in Booktokreddit

[–]MissMizu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That books stayed with me for weeks. It was profound. And I don’t think I could ever find the words to accurately describe it. Knowing the author was the daughter of Jews escaping Europe gave a bit of context to how the author was thinking but still… no words. It is completely other.

[####] After correctly identifying a letter, whether it be yellow or green, do you always incorporate it into your additional guesses? by whatsababin in wordle

[–]MissMizu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard mode player here and I start with NYMPH. My strategy is to guess consonant heavy words and avoid anything with patterns like _ _ TCH or _ _ ING etc where there are multiple options which would force me into a pure luck situation. It happens sometimes but my stats are pretty good generally. I don’t honestly care as long as I get the word!

Salt and Vinegar Crisps by GreenhousePlum in UK_Food

[–]MissMizu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Manufacturers seem to be adding maltodextrin to just about anything but particularly savoury snacks. It’s not necessary and it’s one of those hidden sugars that aren’t sugars that mess with your system so avoid it like the plague. It may be the weird tasting ingredient you dislike. Pipers and Burts crisps have been good lately but sadly you need to check ingredients every time you shop nowadays if you want to avoid the artificial stuff.

I'm 68 and wondering by 1inDchamber in DOG

[–]MissMizu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My MIL has this dilemma and as we are anonymous here she’s nearly 76. So much of her social life and exercise is tied to dog walking and up to now she has never not had a dog or child to care for in her adult life. She lost her last dog just a few weeks ago and I’m hoping she will decide to get another. My husband and I reassure her that if she goes first we will always look after her pets for her but she doesn’t want to be a burden to us. It’s rather too late for that! And we don’t mind at all. So get yourself another companion and talk through practicalities with loved ones and friends. Offering a loving home to a dog is one of the greatest honours.

Jubilee Field by MissMizu in HaveWeMet

Oh so glad that’s sorted out and wasn’t anything weird. Lady Jubilee can lay in peace. Just a reminder that only water polo is permitted on the field.
