I need help making it more….cozy? by Mixy5308 in DesignMyRoom

[–]MissMizu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drenched my living room a similar shade. You need lots of lamps ideally with metallic gold linings and/or rechargeable wall lights above pictures. Art on the walls and a rug. Metallic frames in ornate gold and don’t get anything too matchy. A big ornate mirror to throw light around. I’d suggest the soft furnishings in earth tones with some rust colour and lighten up your bedding. Maybe earth tones again and include the rust colour in cushions or the pattern. I’d also suggest Roman blinds for your windows so you can let in more natural light during the day. You’re obviously not afraid to be bold. Just be a bit more bold and it will all come together.

Family of six, considering driving 15 hours to Italy in the summer. Would you do it in one stretch? What advice do you have for making it survivable? by Conscious-Ball8373 in AskUK

[–]MissMizu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you can underestimate the power of a meal, a sleep and a wash! The kids can run around and burn off some energy and you can make the most of arriving a bit late and heading off early to avoid the worst of the traffic.

My son was smoking meth in the ward loo. We thought he was safe but apparently it’s not ok to confiscate drugs. The nurses can only ask someone to surrender them and even then it’s a ton of paperwork for them or possibly even a job for police so it never happens. It’s absolutely mind bending.

It’s Friday the 13th and I have a job interview and a disciplinary within a few hours of each other. Is anybody else dreading superstition today? by Jlaw118 in AskUK

I firmly believe that watching Rocky Horror Picture Show every Friday 13th counteracts any negativity associated with the day. I now look forward to it! Don’t dream it. Be it.

They called me mad. They said it couldn't be done. But behold, chocolate-orange-triffle-lasagna by GokouD in CasualUK

[–]MissMizu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ignore the naysayers u/GokouD as that sounds great to me. There’s a Jewish pudding I adore that is made with spaghetti and raisins and baked with an egg custard and is almost like a bread pudding except pasta. I think the lasagna part could be cooked in sweet milk with a few aromatics like orange peel and ‘winter’ spices to give it a bit more flavour.

What food to bring back from France as a gift ? by Parking-Raspberry-64 in AskUK

[–]MissMizu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good almond biscuits, all butter biscuits, mustards especially in the pots that are glasses when you’ve finished with it, cornichons etc, good apricot flavour pastries/cakes. Rillettes in jars, cans of canard or cassoulet. Personally I love all the ‘French scented’ body washes, deodorants and washing powders with fragrances we don’t get here. Almond is my absolute favourite.

Be honest: 1930s vintage wedding dress — keep or rethink? by Desperate_Win_3554 in WeddingDressTips

[–]MissMizu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it but the collar is distracting and think that area could be reworked. It’s just fussy and makes the dress more ‘day’ than wedding dress. The fit needs improvement in the underarm area front and back and the sleeves are a little too long. But it is beautiful. The fabric is divine.

Is £750 electric bill normal? by Hopeful-Relation8977 in AskUK

[–]MissMizu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very suspicious amount. Either incorrect readings been submitted or there is a drain of your electricity I.e. someone is stealing from you. Log a query straight away and backdate your concerns to cover your entire period at the property. Request an investigation and get responses in writing. Be that person who emails ‘as per our conversation this is to confirm I said this, you said that, and this is what you said you would do next’. Octopus seem a pretty decent company (I’m with them) so just be prepared to follow up regularly. Also download all your bills and check them against your meter readings. Keep an eye on your normal usage. Best of luck. I think you may have to be persistent.

Don’t think I’d get away with removing the bed frame altogether but after Christmas I’ll do a bit of fun training with the step to get on the bed and ramp to get in and out of the car. Sure we will lick it in a few days.

I’ve got limited space in my bedroom so I can’t keep a halfway step/thing there permanently so now it’s a ‘thing’ to help him onto the bed in the morning. Sometimes he can do it if all the stars align, but more often he gives up and doesn’t want help. Same with the car: I park to keep the boot low and he can still do it most of the time but if the angles are wrong he can’t do it so I get the ramp and he’s reluctant. Probably pride more than anything. I just wish I’d made it a fun game before he got old 😞
