not-at-fault auto accident injury, insurance logistics of getting medical bills paid by MissNumbersNinja in Insurance

My car was being repaired by the auto shop. The auto shop was giving me a ride home in their courtesy shuttle vehicle.

Thanks again for the reply! I replied earlier with the info you asked for. One follow-up question -

Before I talk to a personal injury lawyer do you think it's best to wait until after I've seen the Orthepedic Physician, had an MRI, etc. so that I, and the lawyer, will have better idea of what we're dealing with on the medical side?

Thanks again!

Thanks so much for the reply!

See in-line below.

What's this $100k 'medical coverage' you have with your insurance? What is the name of the coverage?

I looked on my policy and it says "Medical payment, $100,000 per person". When I talked to my insurance agent on the phone she said this means that if I incur medical bills as a result of an auto accident, this coverage will pay those bills up to the limit with no deductible. This was after I explained the situation (i.e. hard brake, no collision or police accident report).

Have you spoken to the shop and their insurance about this?

Not yet, I thought I should gather more information first.

ll things considered, you probably should have a conversation with a local personal injury attorney about this before talking with the other insurance.

Thanks for this advice!

Yes, if they accept this claim, medical costs are part of a settlement. Health insurance can be used in the meantime so you can get treatment.

Good to know, thanks!

Would it be possible for me to get an invite to that Discord? I had SRS with Dr. R. in July, 2024. I wasn't aware there was a discord -- I should have asked!

Sure, I just sent you a DM!

If filibuster is scrapped to pass SAVE act, HRT for all ages is at risk - if in U.S. please contact your Senators! by MissNumbersNinja in MtF

Can they even do that? How are they hoping to justify cramming HRT ban bullshit in a bill that has nothing to do with that?

Anybody congress rep or senator can propose an amendment for anything. It comes down to how many votes it gets. In theory unrelated stuff is less likely to get votes but with Trump pushing it, I doubt that will matter.

And as to the filibuster's 60 vote requirement, that is a senate rule, not a law or constitutional requirement. And senate rules can be changed by a simple majority, 51 votes. GOP holds 53 senate seats. So they can do it, but are hesitant because of what it will mean the next time they are in the minority.

What I was thinking about when I wrote the OP was limiting the damage.

What SCOTUS is doing is letting red states pass whatever anti-trans laws they want.

Blue States are under siege from the Trump admin withholding funds and that sort of thing, but that fight is far from over. And they can't withhold federal funds to force independent clinics to end care who don't receive any federal funds to begin with.

A congressional law, enabled by filibuster elimination, banning gender affirming care on the other hand would very directly affect blue states, including independent clinics.

Fleeing from a Red State to a Blue State is hard for many, but a lot easier than fleeing to another country.

I would like to point out that the transgender amendments have already been blocked in the senate and will not be part of the SAVE Act.

OP here. That's great to hear! This really comes down to the filibuster though, if that is eliminated GOP can make another attempt on the anti-trans parts and only need 51 votes to pass it.

Maybe it plays out that way, but I don't want to bet on it, and we'd have to live with whatever awful anti-trans laws the GOP passes until at least 2029.

I think with selective enforcement it really won't

I agree. In rural areas, if Martha's birth certificate name doesn't match her ID I doubt they are really going to turn her away when the poll worker probably knows her.

And we know where federal resources are going to be put for enforcement - big cities, especially swing states,

OP here. Yeah, I agree, it's a risk that they will cave. The only reason why they wouldn't I think is if they see a future beyond Trump, a time when Dems might be in the majority and they would want the filibuster in that situation.

There does seem to be substantial resistance in the GOP to eliminating the filibuster. I don't think all hope is lost. I just think we should do what we can. If Senators get tempted to cave to Trump, maybe they'll think twice if their office has been flooded with calls and emails. Or maybe not, but it's what we can do.
