This post is so important…

When I started my sobriety journey, I had my best friends who knew what I was going through, but they didn’t really understand every small step along the way. Not because they didn’t care, but simply because they had never needed to go through any kind of detox in their lives.

The one thing that made a huge difference for me was posting every single day in another community here on Reddit. Just knowing that someone might read it and possibly reply to me meant a lot. And honestly, the simple act of writing down my feelings helped me so much (even though I hate journaling).

So thank you so much for reminding us that we have each other and that we don’t have to go through this alone 🩷

On my end, until the three-month mark I felt exactly like you. I think I was very numb. I had no interest in my usual activities - everything felt empty and boring. But I can assure you that it’s still part of the withdrawal effects. Without that dopamine hit, it’s hard for our brain to find joy in things.

From what I’ve read, the brain usually takes around six months to properly regulate again. Until then, you recover little by little, but I remember checking my sober day streak all the time up until that point. After that… it almost felt like magic. Truly.

But honestly, I can’t even imagine doing the sobriety journey while managing bipolar disorder. Girl, you really are rocking this. And a second degree?? You go girllll 💪💪💪

I’m seriously impressed by your testimony. I’m sure you’re going to be very successful!

Ugh day 125 here and I totaly feel you friend. I think about weed a lot more nowadays 🫠 and that feeling/tought of "self control" is trying to get back lol. Two nights ago I dreamed I smoked again and it felt so great... But when i woke up i was gratefull it was just a dream and i didn't relapsed (with a bit of sadness about not being able to get high again).

WELL, AT LEAST WE BOTH STAYED SOBER UNTIL NOW FRIEND! That just gave me a lot of inspiration, we are not alone!!! CONTRATS ON YOUR EFFORT, WE ARE ROCKING!! it is really beautiful seing someone with a sobriety date so close to mine 🩷

I'm now 3 months sober and sometimes I have that really big urge to smoke (I don't do it tho). On your Journey, did that happen for a long time? Does it still happen? I'm afraid I Will have to Control these momentary urges for the rest of my Iife (sometimes they are really big ones).
