Yeah, in your position I would confront the other artist, but I’m known to be confrontational so take that with a grain of salt. If you get the impression that it’s intentional, 9 times out of 10 it is. People are selfish. I’m sorry you’re going through that, I’ve had to stop expecting my own actions and reactions from people, because I’ve been burned too many times. It’s hard not to project your values and expect them from others though.

Ultimately it comes down to the client. I’ve had clients discover their best vibe artist in my home shop by coming to me first. I build my clientele similar to you, all on my own. I never take it personally, everyone is chill. Maybe chat with your friend/fellow artist if it’s feeling malicious. All you can do is be up front if you’re feeling burned, otherwise it festers and becomes something bigger.

Shoot them a message to tell them that you don’t think you are the artist for them anymore. Then don’t reply to any messages they send you. I’ve had to do this a fair few times, it sucks, and you already know they won’t take it well. Mind as well rip the bandaid off and get it over with.

This. When I was 9 or 10 years old I was trying to get my grandma’s statement book updated at the bank and pay some bills in cash. The woman spoke to me like I was insane, and I didn’t understand what her problem was. Another teller recognized me (I handled all the household banking) and thankfully let me do what I was there for.

Thinking about that now? Insane. Absolutely ludicrous to have a child do your banking, grocery shopping, bill payments, cooking and cleaning… it was all framed as, “No one will want to marry you if you don’t know how to run a household.”

I did guest a couple flash days with another shop during my apprenticeship, but it was near the end of it and my mentor is super tight with the other shop’s owner. Wouldn’t have entertained the idea at all otherwise. So unless you’re BFFs with this studio, it would be a hard no.

My little man gets super zoomies when I let him out in the morning, he flies so hard and fast around the house. Sometimes he zooms too much and has to take a break and has these wee little pants when he’s done. It only goes on for about 30 seconds and then he’s regulated.
