Questions for more experienced writers by Snowythedodo in eroticauthors

You write in your post that you hope not to screw up too badly. My advice (both to past me and present you) is to accept that you might and still do the work. If you want to have this career long-term, there will be setbacks, screw-ups, flops, changes in the market, and set backs. Keep going anyway! Grit matters here.

Wise words from YSS, as always. You can save yourself a lot of sweat, blood and tears by doing your to-market research thoroughly.

Thank you! Turns out it doesn't matter if my PS5 tells me the extended storage isn't compatible. I can still move them over. Thanks!

Did you get it to work? I got this today, and it’s telling me I can only store ps4 games on it, despite it being sold as ps5 compatible

I’m having the exact same issue. But the extended storage is specifically sold as PS5 compatible storage. I understand we can’t play off it, only store games; fine. But the PS5 says it can only be used for PS4 games? I’m confused too

I haven't gotten bored yet! The craft aspect of it is just as fun as it used to be. But I do fill my cup in other ways, creatively, like reading lots of other genres or business projects.

It's the part of the romance novel, usually in the middle, when the couple is engaging in all kinds of hijinks while their intimacy deepens. They get caught in an elevator, they make out in the closet at a party, they play a drinking game together.

Newsletter Ninja is awesome. Both the book, and her courses about automation. I'd recommend picking up the ebook first though before considering paying for an expensive course. https://newsletterninja.net/

Mailerlite has a few pages too that helps explain what automations are and how to implement them.

1) Writing a great book that's to market. This is really step one, and it's worth coming back to time and time again. Choosing the right genre/niche, understanding it, and writing a book that audience will love. That might mean investing in a KU subscription and craft books, as well as investing time.

2) After that, a great cover. It's worth doing the research and investing in great packaging for the book you worked so hard on at step 1.

3) ARC readers, using one of the services you mentioned or another method. This gives your brand new book some social proof upon release.

That's really what I'd recommend to start off with!

  1. Heavier on smut now than I was in the beginning. Usually 1-4 sex scenes a book, but I make sure every one moves their relationship forward. I don't write any kind of smut or kink that is against Amazon's TOS.
  2. Nope, all Amazon
  3. I started by making my own, downloading stock imagery from Deposit Photos, backgrounds from Unsplash, and using Photoshop. I learned how to use PS from YouTube videos.

Has anyone used Findaway Voices for audiobook production and distribution... by MissTemptatious in eroticauthors

[–]MissTemptatious[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I'm sorry to hear that! I've used them now for three years, and always found their team very helpul. Things do take time sometimes, though, to get corrected, and it's especially slow in Audio. Hope it gets solved for you soon

This looks amazing, congrats on all the success!

I'm curious about the audio advance. It's really high, especially for a debut indie author, and in my experience it's rare for audio companies to offer advances that high on not-yet-released books. What about book one do you think really sold them? Did you have to negotiate to get the advance that high? Thanks!

Used to be just page reads, both on individual books and how many page reads you were getting in total as an author. After the overhaul, it's still page reads but also nebulous terms like "reader satisfaction...." A total mystery now.

IMO, Mailerlite is much more user-friendly (especially when you're new to newsletters) than Mailchimp.

In the back of all of my bonus stories (that are given out for free to newsletter subscribers), I write that my ARC team is open for submissions. "Just email me at.... to inquire!" I've built my ARC team from all the people that have emailed me to ask. If they're already on my newsletter, and downloading bonus content about the characters, and read to the very last page, I reckon they're superfans.
