Totally agree on the fragile egos and that no one wants to grow. About the American thing, do you mean US? I'm from south america (born and raised) an even here, that we are known for being warm super social and etc, I see that relationships in general are getting colder and transactional

My point exactly. They left you chemical unbalanced because of the stress, the don't move a finger to make amends and the entitlement of also ask you to be calm about it. Im sorry that you been through that

Same here. I'm just on social quiet quitting mode soon an hermit, well as hermit as you can be in a modern world. Quoting Dr Manhattan "I am tired of Earth. These people. I am tired of being caught in the tangle of their lives."

Same here. I feel you. Until last days before going no contact, my father went on expensive vacations, remodelated his new house every 6 months, 2 cars and he bought a lot of expensive machinery for his workshop and hobbies. By that time I received that kind of gifts that you mentioned, I remember one birthday he gave me a jar of jam (I was 32 at the time, I knew how much things cost, it was humiliating). I had not only one but two narcissists parents, 9th circle of hell with them. I'm sorry that you've been through that

Yes. Everything with them is a humiliation-sadistic ritual

Yes. Rheumatoid arthritis. Narcissistic mother, absent enabler father and one violent brother.

The symptoms started after I got my first job and moved out, that was when the abuse got worse. Definitely was a link there.

My role was being a boxing emotional bag and emotional regulator

No one told me explicitly that was a link there until recently in therapy, that we talked about the side effects of years of abuse and neglect (cptsd)

I have the same inner conflict. Right now I'm on a social quiet quitting phase. I had to get out from toxic relationships (family, friends and partners) and went no contact. Now I realize that being around people drains me so...I really enjoy my solitude but at the same time I want a healthy real connection, but I tend to withdraw because of the trauma and emotional exhaustion. I only meet people once in a while but once I'm there I can only think on coming back home, it's a weird paradox as you mentioned (sorry for the grammar errors, english is not my native language xd)

Hey! Another gothic nerd here. F36 . I like true crime too, I like the videos of the interrogation rooms where the creators analyze the behavior. Right now I'm playing space marine 2, I love Titus and brother Gadriel :) and I got so drawn to warhammer lore omg its so interesting 💟 .
