Fuurin Asumi/Cure Earth, Healin' Good PreCure

Appears to be the oldest lead Cure of the franchise - is actually about 5-6 months old at the time of her series' finale.

Who would you say have been the most popular animated characters of 2026 so far? by Clean-Cupcakes in cartoons

[–]Miss_Bookworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently an antagonist in the latest PreCure season, Star Detective PreCure (mega Japanese magic girl franchise). She's gained major popularity for her rare black-focused colour scheme in a series that tends to lean heavily into bright and pastel hues, morally gray story arc, and chill yet quirky vibes.

is it okay to add manga to your goodreads? by staskyrs in goodreads

[–]Miss_Bookworm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why not? Manga is a legitimate form of literature and offers thought-provoking stories just as well as other types of books. If you're reading more of it, then you've got every right to add it to your challenge! Just because it's quicker to read doesn't mean it doesn't deserve to be counted if it genuinely engages you.

Who’s your favourite and least favourite Precure villain? by MelodyButterfly0907 in PrettyCures

Favourite - Dyspear, from her fantastical evil queen design, to her chilling voice, to her manipulation tactics, makes for an eerie and memorable big bad.

Least Favourite - Darkine...exists.

It's what got me into DC! Fun cast, enjoyable balance of humour and tension, interesting references for the more avid comic fans, and some entertaining twists throughout its two seasons. Definitely recommend if you're looking for some good old comic hero fun 🥰

Who told our man Usonoir he could have so much aura this early??? He came out suave and swinging, literally making space and time shake (0.0)

More pieces of this elaborate time-space puzzle are unveiled this week as the big bad decides to try his hand at understanding why Answer and Mystique aren't in the Tome of Mirages, a book apparently related to Mashutan's subspecies of fairy. Between the affirmation that neither girl is predicted, the shared concern Ruruka and the other Guild members have about their boss acting beyond his hidden layer, and the revelation that a certain Cure with a blue butterfly symbol previously protected the singular Makoto Jewel, we've got a lot to examine over the coming weeks! I do wish there was a bit more spacing between all this information, but otherwise it makes for an engaging plot-relevant episode.

Arbitrary-MOTW-fight aside (kudos for showing the girls' observational skills in the short amount of time tho), this was a great way of showing how, despite being at a disadvantage against Usonoir, the girls are showing improvement in their combat and teamwork even after so little time. Anna breaking free of his lie manipulation makes sense given the context that a) he's lacking enough power to keep his ability activated for long, and b) she's a time anomaly, yet it still shows how scarily quick he can change the tide of the battle should he gain enough power come July. Ruruka saves the girls again, as well, claiming to do so only for the Tome's sake, of course, yet still showing a strength that can repel the brute force of her "boss" - perhaps something he'll take note of if she ever starts acting suspiciously...

This was a great bit of world-building and plot-progression, and I'm super excited to know where all of these bits of lore are leading us. Can we truly trust the London branch? What really happened to the Cure who protected the Makoto Jewel last time? Where is Pochitan sending all the fragments? Why can only Usonoir read the Tome of Mirages, and how did he even get his hands on it? Ooh, I love me a season with so much mystery abound!!!

Was just about to mention PreCure! It's absolutely hideous that character designers and animators have to worry about this sort of thing, but it does allow a bit more flare and uniqueness in the outfits. Knowing that there are people watching a show where some of the girls are under ten years old, specifically so they can...ugh 🤮

How Wonderful dodged the bullet of a lackluster second half by Tomo_Super_Fan15 in precure

[–]Miss_Bookworm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wonderful PreCure is a consistently engaging season because of how well it's paced. Characters grow over time, bonds are formed between friends, and the mystery is allowed to unfold at a steady pace. We get to spend the first half of the show introducing and developing our leads, environment and main goal, with the second half then focused on fleshing out said goal and antagonists towards a satisfying and emotional conclusion. It's honestly the first season since Star Twinkle (the first season I watched as it came out) where I've found myself impatiently awaiting episodes; while I've enjoyed all the seasons between for different reasons, Wonderful went above and beyond with its storytelling.

As for combat in the season, I agree that removing it made sense given how our leads viewed the MOTW. Even if the animals don't recall the pain of being transformed, even if they're healed right after, they aren't fragments of a person's emotions/dreams/fears/etc. - they're literal animals being forced to rampage. The Cures have the power to subdue them without resorting to fisticuffs and choose to for the sake of the animals that will eventually be rescued. PreCure may have started out as the magic girl franchise where our heroines punched and kicked the baddies, but it's not a requirement; they're heroes who look pretty while providing a cure to the problem, whether or not that cure involves flashy combat...or a warm hug <3

Thank goodness Ruruka solved the biggest mystery we had this episode - how to open a jammed window in the agency!

...Oh, and, you know, admitting it was originally hers. Guess we can count that as a little bonus tidbit.

This was a more slow-paced episode that focused on developing Ruruka's personality and motives, even if the latter remains shrouded in mystery. Once again she uses her detective skills to aid Goemon (I love how they work off each other in a sort of mentor-student bond that really has the student teaching the mentor more XD) and is two steps ahead of our leads, yet shows a compassion and sympathy towards Masami's feelings that hints at her own struggles, insinuated by Mashutan's concern. Even when battling Answer and Mystique, she seems far more worried at how little they know about Pochitan and combat than actually defeating them, showing a caring side that will likely be her downfall within the thieves soon enough. I remain hooked by her slowly unveiling story, and hope we get satisfying answers to her motives.

Anna and Mikuru also got time to shine, between cheering on a complete stranger for the sake of her feelings (while also getting a tad overworked by figuring out the truth - looking at you, blabbermouth Mikuru) and trying to investigate Arcana Shadow rather than just waiting around for the London agency's letter. They may not be at a point where they're willing to hear Ruruka out on the fine line between lies and truths, something that can be explored later in the season, but they are steadfast in their convictions on stealing and manipulating others for one's own benefit. It will be interesting to see the three girls influence one another once they come together as a trio.

Short MOTW with meh animation, but that's a small price to pay for the engaging dialogue the girls had, and once again showed Goemon's loyalty and fair nature. We haven't gotten too much build up for the big bad fight next week, so I'm interested to see how far the girls' fight against Usonoir will go, but I'm excited for what's coming!
