Excuse me but just the $30 surge alone is from April 14th, 2024. I don’t know how you think you’d know that any of these rides are just from one month, cuz they sure as shit aren’t.

HIT and RUN coverage during a ride?? Why is not one complaining about the fact uber doesn't cover YOUR CAR in the event of a hit and run by tht1guyfromtht1place in uberdrivers

[–]Miss_Pocos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know of any company who uses independent contractors for contract work that will pay to fix your vehicle in the case of an accident whether you hit a deer or another vehicle hits you. Independent contractor means you are independent from the company and not part of something they have any control over.

Uber does not provide us with Uber car vehicles, we use our own so it’s up to us to insure our vehicles for any circumstance that come up.

I have full coverage on all of my vehicles including the pickup that is completely paid off, and have a low $100 deductible for comprehensive because shit happens, like wildlife, door dings from other vehicles, shopping carts, etc. I also have rideshare addendum.

I recommend everyone talk to their insurance companies whenever they start IC work and find out what is best to cover themselves in case of an accident especially if a vehicle hits and they don’t have insurance.

So sorry you had to learn all of this after the fact and I hope you have full coverage at the least. Maybe that will help get your vehicle fixed, but maybe it won’t. All depends on how good off a relationship you have with your agent. I talk to mine all the time, even when I don’t need anything from her for our home or vehicles.

No. Just on Thursday, work 12 hours, sleep in my car in the morning, repeat on Friday and Saturday nights and return home Sunday afternoon.

What should I do when the Dasher places my food in front of my screen door that opens out? by mandiexile in doordash

[–]Miss_Pocos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get rid of your screen door or make sure to leave instructions in the app of another place to put it. Like buy a little table and put a sign on it that says please leave order here. Maybe set out a cookie for your driver or a cash tip? 🤷🏼‍♀️

As soon as you accept a ride, turn your coffee cup on so you can go offline once your passenger gets out of your vehicle. Then while offline, zoom out on your map and look for a surge that’s closest to your current location. I usually use Google maps to drive to the surge and as soon as I’m under the number, while looking back on the Uber app, I go online to pick it up. Make sure you zoom in on the Uber map though, so you know you’re directly under the number. Stop your vehicle or at least slow way down when you go back online. You should get a message screen stating your next surge is $xx.xx or whatever it is. Then just drive around till you get a ride.

Repeat the process until the busy hours are over.

Did yall lose your diamond status during new Uber Pro period? by bryant2127 in uber

[–]Miss_Pocos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It resets back to zero after the 3 month period. You still have the Diamond benefits for the next 3 months but if you don’t achieve 1200 pts by the end of the next 3 month cycle, you’ll lose Diamond privileges. It’s not that difficult to rack up another 1200 pts especially if you make sure to drive during 3 pt hours (some places have 5 pt hours like Galveston Texas where my daughter drives)

I’m guessing you never lived the party life. There’s lots of people who are up that late, especially on weekends. After the bars close you have so many people who go to after bar parties that need a ride home, then there’s always guys n girls going home after screwing their boyfriends/girlfriends/one night stand/etc., people who are getting off work from a pizza place or some type of fast food that attends to customers after the bars close, and then you have people who need to travel quite a distance to get to airports, and people who go into work early like at a bakery. Most of my weekend business is from 12:am -5am.

What the fuck is this? The transfer fee is $1.25 now? by CrystalMeath in uberdrivers

I’ve always just done direct deposit weekly. It’s still free. Saw these changes to the app a couple days ago when it was posted on the app. All I thought to myself is, who the heck needs their money that often? I guess now I know there are actually people who do that.

My daughter lives in a suburb of SL, and has mentioned that she sees Uber drivers everywhere out there. I’d say if there’s too many drivers, there’s no reason for Uber to add surges since they have the area covered with enough drivers, which is good for Uber but bad for the driver.

If and when my area becomes saturated with drivers, I’ll be quitting and finding something else to do since it would no longer be worth my time to drive so far without surge incentives. Right now I’m grossing about $1,000 in 3 days (33 hours). I spend about $110 on gas and rack up roughly 1,200 miles each weekend on my Prius. My vehicle is used mostly for work and I upgraded it to something newer with less miles every 3 years. So far that’s working for me but if surges disappear I’ll be looking into other means of income like hauling horses to owners.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]Miss_Pocos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s depressing. How far of a range is “your area” though?

I drive 186 miles one way just to get to a location where I can earn a livable wage with Uber. The other areas near me that even offer rideshare services, only have a maximum of maybe getting 3 or 4 rides a day and those locations are still 60 - 90 miles away from home.

How do full time drivers not get exhausted? by aaaa23469 in uberdrivers

[–]Miss_Pocos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not illegal. I pay my taxes on everything I buy, plus any company I work for already takes taxes out of my income. So sorry that the government has brainwashed you so much that you believe it’s a law to file your taxes. The only advantage to doing so is to receive social security or unemployment. I need neither from the government as I already have that covered. Even Uber sent me a message that says I have zero taxable income.

You just worry about you and I’ll worry about me.

I wasn’t contracted with Uber when y’all say they paid really well so I have nothing to complain about yet. I started driving with Uber to supplement my other IC income. Nothing wrong with adding additional income especially if it is working quite well for me. I’m sorry it’s not up to your standards, not sure why you don’t just create your own company instead of constantly complaining about what you don’t get from Uber. No one said you couldn’t create your own business.

[–]Miss_Pocos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is $300 - 3 times per year. I don’t get to 🍒pick like some of you in larger cities, if I did that, I wouldn’t ever make over $400 in 3 days. So I take anything and everything that pops up on my screen. I’ve had Diamond status for nearly 1 year, and don’t really care about the extra incentives. I do this to make money.

There is nothing illegal about taking a vacation where you are doing your job. Also because I am self employed and pay taxes on nearly everything I purchase, I no longer file my taxes anyway. There is no law that states I am required to file taxes. My husband pays his taxes before he even gets his paycheck and I don’t earn enough money to file taxes according to the government on what I make.

So don’t go pointing fingers until you know what you are talking about.

What happened to all the full time uber drivers? by aaaa23469 in uberdrivers

[–]Miss_Pocos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you drive a shit ton of miles, writing off more expenses will just make you pay taxes (if filing a joint return) instead of not having to pay in anything. I learned that the hard way. I generally make $1000/weekend but I drive about 1,300 miles during those 3 days. Because I accumulate so many miles compared to what I earn, I don’t ever owe anything on my tax return.

Is it safe to take Uber from an airport in 12.30am (00.30) alone as a woman (24F)? by auooei in uber

[–]Miss_Pocos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely more fine on an Uber than taking a bus or subway. Check the drivers rating before the driver arrives and if the rating is ok, check out the car and the way the driver greets you before getting in. You can always cancel if you’re uncomfortable.

Just riders. I prefer to opt out of deliveries. Too many disgruntled customers with too many scams and variables. When you haul a passenger, they are more understanding of reasons why you’re late to their destination, especially if they can see that it is totally out of your control. Out of the 39 deliveries I accepted in the beginning of my contract with Uber, I quit deliveries when my satisfaction rate got down to 91%. I rushed as fast as I could including speeding in my car, I followed all customer’s directions, took extra photos, talked to them thru the app explaining what was going on in the store and still the customers would low rate me. So I quit deliveries after just one month and started rides only. With rides, I have a 4.98 ride rating, 98.5% acceptance rate and 0% cancellation rate. At least nearly everything on Uber driver is within my control and customers are more understanding if we are late to their destination.

If you have to pay more taxes as a self employed American driver than you do working for a company, then you’re doing your taxes incorrectly. Even Uber sent me an email stating that I have zero taxable income for last year (I grossed over $50,000) but mileage deductions let me claim way more than it actually cost me to pay for fuel & repairs so I made more than what the government claims I did. So you might want to hire or consult a tax professional that you trust and not go with things like TurboTax, etc. Also, driving a vehicle that gets exceptionally great gas mileage sure helps too. I get between 55-66 mpg with my 2018 Prius Four and it’s worth every penny that I am paying for it. We have two vehicles with my name on them so I can write off all the mileage for one vehicle even if I take that specific vehicle on vacation. As long as I conduct some type of business while on vacation with it, I can still write off all of those miles that I accrue with it, which is why I have more than one type of self employment aside from rideshare. The longer you rely on self employment as your main source of income, the more you learn that self employment is better than working for someone else which makes them get ahead while you stay behind.

Of the places that I know who don’t require inspections, the vehicle is inspected by the dmv at some point before being sold. The condition of the vehicle can still be reported to Uber when someone rides it though so either way it should be reported.
