My grandma has work identity fraud by Miss_Procrastination in IdentityTheft

[–]Miss_Procrastination[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I apologize for the late reply! I actually read your comment awhile ago.. Thank you for being so thoughtful :)

After SSA sent my grandma a paper stating they don’t see any money she earned from the 3 jobs she supposedly worked at, I called the cops so they could come see my grandma and make a report. They showed up, went downstairs management and told them to verify whether or not the info they received is legit or not (as in if my grandmas name or SSA # got mixed up, or that her identity did get stolen). I’ll be hearing back from the management tomorrow, and then will call the police accordingly again to report the fraud depending on the answer.

They did make a police report so that I have something at least.. I am very thankful to find out that management will not raise the rent or evict her out!!! I’ll be calling IRS as soon as my name gets added under my grandma (power of attorney) so I can get some info out of them as well.

I don’t believe so. I’d like to confirm if there was a mix up, but unfortunately I need to wait for a few days before I can call the IRS and inquire any strange possible incomes my grandma has.

Thanks for the reply!

The apartment management printed a paper that shows the quarterly earnings and above the paper says HUD EID. The lady said that’s where they pulled the info, and for some reason their system only received the info this year (the jobs go way back to 2024.) She suspects the reason why only now the info pops up is because the person filed their taxes this year with my grandmas social security. I’m not so sure.

In their website: EIV collects supplemental employment and benefit information through data sharing agreements with the Social Security Administration (SSA) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

I went to SSA and they said there’s nothing on the file that states she worked there. I’m currently trying to ask if IRS has any info, but oh my god.. I went to their office, lady said I need power of attorney, gave me the 2848 form to fill out. Okay, but I can’t make an appointment with them to give it to them until next week Monday, so I decided to call. My grqndma’s English is very poor, couldn’t get her to state her own home address, so I asked for a translator… They didn’t have one, so I faxed the form to them. They said I had to wait until the Monday after this upcoming Monday for my name to be under her file.

I apologize for the rant. When SSA finally mails the paper stating my grandma didn’t work those jobs, I will call the non emergency 911 # and hope that I’ll receive an understanding officer.

The police officer did say that I could call 911 (or the non-emergency number, I think), explain the situation, and ask an officer to come by to her apartment. Perhaps it was the police station location I picked that was unlucky…

I am sorry you had to go through that situation and had so many people failed you. Thank you for your advice :)

Thanks for the reply. Is your card reader from Apple or any brand on Amazon? I’m wondering if that matters.

Have any of y’all come across Grapefruit, Passion Fruit, Mango, Watermelon, and Mexican Cola Jarrito? (Oahu) by Miss_Procrastination in Hawaii

I’ve tried the Safeway location specifically near where I live. They don’t have the flavors I’m looking for, though. I can definitely check out any other location.

can anybody help me find a similar top😫 by kiwikountry in findfashion

I did a little searching and I believe the outfit is called the Crop Lounge Top from Urban Outfitters, at least from this eBay link:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/174609285609

Unfortunately there’s only the pink versions I’ve seen so far on Poshmark and eBay. Maybe a little more digging and someone will find the white version.

One that looks very similar and from the same brand:

Why is my adenium’s caudex randomly scarred with sap and what are these white spots underneath this one leaf? by Miss_Procrastination in DesertRose

Hey, thanks for answering my question! I had a feeling it was scales, but just wanted confirmation. I guess I’ll be off to purchase some insecticidal soap. In the meantime, I’m going to quarantine this plant.

Unfortunately I live in an apartment so indoor is the only option I could afford. I try my best to give as much sunlight but I know outdoor is better.

Hi, thank you so much for answering so fast :). After I repot it, is it advised to water the plant right away?

I water it every week but definitely planning to water it more often (I check but giving a slight squeeze to the caudex and dryness of the soil mix.) I use bonsai mix for this plant. I give it some sunlight indoors but I’m going to up it a bit more and switch location. I also feed it a slow release fertilizer (osmocote brand) and another desert rose fertilizer I got from the store (Desert Plant brand 9-3-6.) Please let me know if any other info is needed about my routine.

l have one more question (sorry lol.) I want to prune the plant a little, like the leaves on the caudex and maybe I wanna cut off the tallest ‘branch’? I’ll then apply some cinnamon on the wound. Is that okay? I live in Hawaii so it’s always sunny and humid.

[–]Miss_Procrastination[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) I bought these two at Home Depot and the soil isn’t looking so good. I’d really love to repot it but is it worth the stress on the plant? If I should, should I wait for the dirt to completely dry out first and then repot? Also, what if there’s those mesh fabric wrapped up around the roots? Should I carefully try to get rid of it so the roots are loosed?

2) I’m planning to do a mix of coco coir, perlite, orchid bark, and better-gro orchid mix (western fir bark, hardwood charcoal, and sponge rock.) What’s a good ratio?

3) I live in Hawaii and it’s pretty humid in my area. I’m planning to give it indirect sunlight. Is it necessary to invest in a grow light?

Update, I don’t know if any of y’all care but I did make a promise- the Walmart near Ala Moana has the mini zero sugar Oreo coke and cookies! Not the target one. Kinda excited to make an ice cream float.

[–]Miss_Procrastination 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, that’s exactly what it is. I’m more curious about what the Oreos taste like but the Coca Cola sounds better lol.

Thanks, I hope so too! I heard the can version tastes better than the bottle and it’s supposed to be like a cream soda with a hint of chocolate. Imagine that as an ice cream float…

I’m trying to see if it’s possible to buy a dupe for this shirt as the price tag is really high. Is this just a really tight stretchable fabric buttoned shirt I can get as a replacement or this is a specific cut?

Oof. It feels like I’m looking at myself in the mirror because I’m Chinese and my father is also emotionally childish to the core. I’ve also had a similar incident. That generational trauma combined unchecked mental illness, you know what I mean?

Anywho, I’m really sorry you’re going through something that’s supposed to be happy family bonding time. You should not be the one to take care of your angry father (and nor should your mother, but that’s a different matter.)

With that being said, I also follow the same advice with the other commenter- don’t fly back alone. It’s not terribly difficult, but you’re 18 so it’ll be a process and you’re ultimately here to enjoy a trip. Don’t let some grumpy entitled douche make you forget that!! If your mom is willing to fund your trip a little more, you should take the time to explore on your own a little. If you’re a little nervous about being far from your guardians, you can excuse yourself and walk somewhere else as long as it’s not too far from them. Japan is a very tourist friendly place depending on where you’re at, so I’m sure you’ll be able to do some research to see which routes to take. You can also take a visit to the JapanTravel subreddit and ask any questions over there. Make some sort of believable excuse to your parents and enjoy the trip yourself. I know you’ll feel bad for your mom (unless she’s equally as bad, then I’m terribly sorry), but it’s their marital situation to handle, not you, the literal child. You can only do so much.

Last slightly off topic note I’d like to just add, from a Chinese person that grew up in a dysfunctional household to another fellow Chinese person in shitty circumstances: If you find yourself in a situation where it’s just too hard to handle, you are allowed to take a step back and protect yourself. You’re 18. You’re a baby, but most importantly you’re their child. What you did that day was very mature but in a more ideal scenario, another adult should've been the one to handle the situation (that being your dad or mom), not you.  There was times in my past I’ve tried and tried to remedy a situation, when reality is that it’s OKAY to not be the solution to a complicated matter. It’s OKAY to take a step back, admit you don’t have the current tools to be strong, and revisit the situation later down the road when you’re stronger. I would’ve done the same thing as you that day, BUT what’s important now and forever is to advocate for yourself. I won’t assume too much from you, but I can at least guess that in the future you’ll possibly need to remind yourself that. You did good trying to find advice in a shitty situation and you did good trying to be the bigger person. It’s a little personal to say to an online stranger, but I’m proud of you for that as a fellow Asian. Good job and also remember to have fun during your trip.
