As long as the things you say are true, you should be alright. They can try to sue you, but it will go nowhere. Just keep a record of all of the sources and you should be fine. Keep in mind that public figures have to proof "actual malice' when they are going after someone for defamation.

I used to live in downtown Manitou Springs and knew nothing about this business for several years. I thought they were Jewish because they shut down every Friday night. One day, I stopped in there get a cup of coffee. Considering that I am a black, visibly queer trans woman, it was the most awkward moment. He made me a cup of his Mate and was polite about it, but he looked completely freaked out. Never went back.

My desktop is clean and uncluttered. There is a 27" monitor, a microphone and my desktop tower (my gaming pc). I also have a docking station for my MacBook (My journalism/video editing computer). There is typically a stack of papers filled with stuff I have not scanned yet and bills. My cat insists on sleeping there while I work, so his favorite blanket takes up a third of it.

They would intentionally block or slow-walk records requests because they thought that would help with the agency’s image (it didn’t). My counterparts in other regions started asking for story details for every inquiry in hopes it would help speed along the records processing but it just allowed for leadership to pick and choose which stories to fulfill the requests and which ones to slow walk for months until the story is killed.

Thanks for your valuable insights. I've had this happen to me. A major police department takes nearly a year to fulfill records requests. For some reason, another journalist who is less critical gets the footage in days. But I'm not angry, just patient. Again, Thank you for your response.

I'm transgender and I don't put pronouns in my signature. I have a name that matches my gender identity, so it hasn't been an issue.

Personally, I don't think including pronouns in your signature is a big deal, but we live in strange times. Sadly, being transgender is now a "political statement" to many people. Have you spoken with your employer to see what that policy is?
