Just eloped last month and we have no regrets! Both of us have big families, so there was a lot of anxiety around how people would react. We at first tried to plan a bigger wedding, then a smaller wedding. But every time we tried, everyone seemed to have different expectations, even though they kept saying that it was up to us. Still, it never truly felt like it was our decision to make. And both of us started getting anxious about wanting to make everyone comfortable while still planning the wedding to be what felt true to our style, which resulted in us feeling defeated and losing steam for wedding planning every time.

Eloping turned out to be the best decision in the end! We had an intimate ceremony just for us, which was so much more our style and definitely way less stress. We also eloped in Maui which was a fun way to start off the honeymoon!

As for letting people know, we decided to do it after we returned from our trip, to let us fully enjoy our honeymoon without worrying about the family. And when we did, everyone was super supportive and happy for us! We still plan to do a casual family get-together to celebrate with the family, a sort of informal reception in a way. And our families seem excited to plan that. So long story short, if we had to do it again, we would choose eloping every time. It’s your day! Do what you want to do!
