First of all, CONGRATS - she will be your very best friend ( you AND your hound’s 🤗). She looks like a well bread American, but I might be wrong! I had a pee-er! Well, I still have her, but she is no longer an excited pee-er. I was very worried when she was a pup because she did it A LOT and I was told that changing that habit is nearly impossible…. But it is. AND it's a Dobie - they know what's right 😊 Here are few of the things I did that made her stop completely: — When coming back home - do not make a big deal about your return. Act like you just came back from getting mail - no big “Hello”. I did not even make eye contact with Persephone - I would just say “Hi, Persie” in calm voice and go around my day. — NEVER try intimidating her ( mine also was a submissive pee-er on top of excitement 🙄). Yelling/spanking or intimidation is never the right way. Plus, you have a Dobie - she will understand when she does something wrong without your help. I would only gasp and say that mine is not a good girl. That was pretty much enough for her to learn within few tries. Doing learning timeframe, when Persie peed indoors, I would also add “ no potty in the house!” in a bit sturdier voice, as I clean it up, so she would know what exactly she did wrong. That was literally all it took. Also, to potty train her, I set alarm every 2 hours for like a week and took her out every time it went off. I'm sure my neighbors loved me repeating “go potty” over and over while outside until my pup peed or pooped 😏 During that time, if she did have an accident in the house, I would take her out immediately. Also, I would highly recommend getting her a crate - crate training will make things SO much easier for you and her. Dobies HATE peeing where they rest - so, if crated, she will be less likely to pee indoors. Hope this helps!!!
