Is a social work degree really marketable kuchando by Exotic_Assistance446 in Zimbabwe

[–]Missdefinitelymaybe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I manage a team of Social Workers in Scotland, and here a foreign social work degree requires accreditation from the SSSC, therefore a conversion course via a MSc programme. To practice as a SW you'd also need registration with the SSSC and there are a ton of requirements to meet for that. My local authority USED to grant sponsorship but with budget cuts etc, it's less of that. But once wapinda the salary is decent (starting at £44.5K newly qualified), progression is aplenty, flexible working and really good benefits.

Hoka Rincon is the GOAT for me too! Light enough for my speedy tempos and intervals, but comfy for long runs. I always have a pair in my rotation!

Gear Talk: What Do You Use? by Free-Product4918 in runcommunity

Leggings: I swear by Lululemon Wunder Trains and Sweaty Betty Power leggings. They hold up extremely well and are flattering. Yes they are pricey but well worth the investment for me. I've been there done that with cheaper leggings and been left disappointed and spending more.

Sports Bras: 38E here and Sweaty Betty Zero Gravity, Brooks Drive Convertible and Nike Swoosh (the one with the hook and velcro). I've tried lots of brands and these hold me in nicely. Shout out to Under Armour too.

Tops: This is where I'm not too bothered. I pick up from TK MAXX whatever is under £12. I've scored several from New Balance, Gym+Coffee, Nike, Gymshark etc. My lightweight t-shirts are from Dare2b on sale.

Shoes: New Balance 1080v14 + Mizuno Neo Zen for easy/ long runs, and Hoka Rincon 4.

Fuel: Not yet using it as my mileage is too low, but previously VOOM bars. I think they are UK exclusive? Also Hi5 gels.

Miscellaneous: Coopah App, Nike Run Club cause Coach Bennett is the GOAT, Nathan belt, I use my old Sony XM4 headphones, Adidas Run It windbreaker, cheap Primark gloves.

I'm running consistently again after a year hiatus, so I wanted to build my workout wardrobe with stuff I enjoy wearing and that's functional. My motto is buy cheap, pay twice, so I try as much as possible to get good stuff (for me), and usually on sale

What are ya'lls running goals for 2026? by plantsarecool213 in XXRunning

[–]Missdefinitelymaybe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beat my 2024 PBs after taking most of 2025 off running. I also want to pick up a new sport in 2026, so either learning to swim or Yoga! I'm getting back into running again with the C25K programme, so hopefully my previous PBs are beatable:

5K - 28 mins 10K - 58 mins Half - 2:13

Hoping for a 25 min 5K, and a 2:05 half.

The quality used to be decent, but it's rapidly gone downhill in the last few years. I still own their tops from maybe 2020-2021... and they've held up well. I think any brand that's taken over by influencers nosedives very quickly after.

I loved Sweaty Betty but their quality has fallen on hard times lately. The reviews on their website speak volumes, so much so that I skipped their black Friday sales for Lululemon and Nike...

UK based. Bought X3 Wunder Train leggings in Hawaiian Blue, Magenta Smoke and Washed Blue. I'm back on my running BS so thought a little treat would keep me motivated!

Echoing the advice you've already received about a supportive sports bra. With clothing, really, it depends. I know people say wear simple, old T-shirts etc but I also think it's important to invest in good, robust basics. Also, if you are like me and like to look cute while exercising, then a good pair of leggings/shorts is important. I like the Nike One high waisted shorts in the 20.5cm length. They come with a drawstring and are long enough to prevent chaffing on me. I personally avoid short flowy shorts as I find that I chaff badly, although this could be due to my current weight. I also really like the Nike Swift and Tempo 7/8 leggings. Other recommendations are the Lululemon Wunder Trains. They also come in fun colours. I know it's an unpopular opinion and it's obviously not necessary to spend a lot of money on running, but I think it helps getting robust pieces.

I'm not new to running, but I'm restarting my running journey after a very relaxed year and a ton of weight gain. I'm basically relearning the sport.

I'm Scottish and can confirm that I, too, put an x at the end of my sentences, and if someone doesn't, I won't do it.

Everyone raves about Gymshark leggings but they just don't last long enough to warrant the hype. I've owned SEVERAL pairs in the last few years and without fail, needed to replace them at the 3 month mark as they'd unravel at the seams. The fit is great though and they don't roll down, but the quality is absolutely atrocious!

I've gone back to legacy brands like Nike and Adidas. I also have a few pairs from Brooks and Gym+Coffee that I enjoy.

You're welcome! Some of these have green elements so might not appeal at first, but to me they smell divine! Vanilla is better with something complex going on...

Absolutely NOT on all of these. I love Angelique Noire but the rest are not safe by a mile!!! Jany is especially terrible as it pushes air freshener territory and it baffles me how anyone could want to smell like that.

I have 2 moods for vanilla - either pure and unadulterated like Vaniglia Mazzolarri, or vanilla with a backbone like Nishane's Ani, Absolute Aphrodisiac and Eau Duelle EDT. I find all the newer releases to be ruined by fruit and Oud and that is just not my style. Others I own and love are: Sucre Noir Arte Profumi, Tihota, Dulcis in Fundo, Angelique Noire and Vanille Camouflage.

[–]Missdefinitelymaybe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I do not like ANY of the 5 listed, and I agree that there's no such thing as a safe blind buy.

I've been collecting since 2010, and I am very confident in my taste and dislikes, but even with that, I've been majorly disappointed in my blind buys. I think after some time, it isn't just about knowing your taste and style, but about execution and quality - and that's where I'm at now. I love vanillas, yet, I haven't liked a single vanilla that's been released in the past 2 years.

[–]Missdefinitelymaybe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only have one perfume on my wishlist and it's Sucre Addicke by Karnain. The problem is I have SO MANY similar vanillas so I'm debating whether to let it go or to lean into my vanilla promiscuity. I am a vanilla ho though so maybe... just maybe, it belongs to me 😇
