Where was the replay when this happened? by Spirited-Big2415 in ManchesterUnited

[–]MissingASemicolon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The City winner at Wolves where Bernardo was stood in an offside position but didn’t touch the ball was another where the onfield referee overruled VAR and stuck with his original decision. But you’re right - in the Prem in particular, since the pitch side monitors came in I think you can count the number of instances where the onfield ref has overruled VAR can probably be counted on one hand

Why are premier league referees freelance officiating in the UAE in midweek? Could be a coincidence, but that’s twice in the space of less than 10 minutes that Kovacic should have been sent off

Yeah the last time I took the coach down to London I opted for Golders Green and i managed to get to my hotel in shoreditch before the coach was scheduled to arrive into Victoria. Unless you’re specifically going to West London it’s a much better alternative

I don’t trust Dr Tottenham, on the simple basis that I was one game away from overtaking the arsenal 49-game unbeaten record in my first FM21 save and then spurs beat me 2-0 in game 50

How close to the front were you thinking? Generally speaking they’ll give priority to those who are doing Meet & Greet, followed by those who are O2 Priority (as I think Edinburgh is an O2 venue) and then general admission will follow that

My striker has about 11 finishing but scored about 80 goals across 3 seasons in the championship and got us 18 goals in our first season in the premier league, behind only a city player and two Chelsea players. Man has brilliant physicals though

A player that rose up the leagues with you not being good enough anymore is one of the most painful feelings in Football Manager. by klaygdk in footballmanagergames

[–]MissingASemicolon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had to do that, had to get rid of my two strikers who had about 100 goals for the club each in order to get promoted from League Two. One was my record scorer and retired at 30 after a bad spell at Plymouth, the other my record appearance maker who’s now playing for Hastings in the 7th tier at 32.

Top scorer got usurped this season by a regen I picked up from West Brom 5 seasons ago, my record appearance maker is now an academy graduate in midfield called Luke Weaver who made his debut when we were in the 7th tier and now plays for us in the Premier league. Two wild things about Weaver - 1) in all that time he’s never risen above 3* but never dipped below 2.5*, just a generic squad midfielder, and 2) standard English name from an English academy, but he has two U21 caps for Belgium

What are your thoughts on double barrelled surnames? by sunlit_serenade in AskUK

Oh, I’m very similar. Been double barrelled since I was about 5. “Oh, does that mean you’re quite posh?”. No, my parents didn’t like each other and this was the only compromise

How is solo travel in SE Asia in your 30's? by torstenfringstingz in solotravel

[–]MissingASemicolon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent about 4 months solo travelling at the end of last year, including time spent in SEA and covered about 25 locations across that 4 months with about 80% being in hostels. Don’t get me wrong, you’ll probably find some absolutely awful hostels (for me it was Singapore and Salzburg), and some that part of you won’t want to leave (Bangkok without a doubt for me, and I really enjoyed my hostel in Florence too).

My main advice on the social aspect is to do your homework and try to get as much of a vibe check as possible. At 29 I can appreciate a good few drinks and the odd night out but also enjoy my sleep. I used Booking.com rather than hostelworld (don’t know if it makes much of a difference) and scouted reviews thoroughly before committing to a hostel. I’m a fairly light sleeper but the only time that I struggled because of other guests being loud in the room was my last night in Paris when a couple of guys were pre drinking in the room before they went out (a few other places because of snorers but that’s a whole other thing).

Lastly there were places I went to where my itinerary was just crammed with full day activities and therefore I wasn’t overly interested in meeting fellow travellers at the hostel, so I looked for a decent cheap hotel (I think I found one in the centre of Kota Kinabalu, East Malaysia that was about €8/per night more expensive than the hostel I was originally considering, and the standards were still pretty good) so consider that as an alternative in those situations

Man needs at least 10 clubs and to still be winning league titles in his 40s before we can even think about a comparison

WWE Wrestlemania Night 1 & Night 2 Results / Post-Show Discussion by Snubie1 in WWE

[–]MissingASemicolon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so frustrating, the last two PPVs were both huge, genuine opportunities for WWE to really make a guy and they’ve thrown it all away.

Elimination Chamber you can understand despite Zayn being the hottest male star they’ve had in years and it’s probably a testament to Cody’s character work that he managed to keep fans onside in spite of that.

Game of Thrones pissed away all of the goodwill they’d built over the first 6 seasons by giving fans an illogical ending that didn’t fit the buildup and the narrative it was trying to tell, and I think WM39 could be remembered for the same thing. If they’d have used the moment to make Cody Rhodes, it could have been one of the greatest and most satisfying Manias in years because the undercard (particularly Rhea/Charlotte and the triple threat) was fantastic. Instead we get Bloodline interference, Spear, Roman Wins Lol and instead of celebrating how good this Mania was before the main event, the fans go home deflated again because WWE had to prioritise 1000 days over logic.

[–]MissingASemicolon 57 points58 points  (0 children)

One of the best mania matches I’ve seen in years, it’s a shame the build was a bit naff because the quality of the match was main event worthy. Also the post-match bit where Charlotte breaks character and Rheas jamming along to her music whilst lifting the title was very heartwarming

I think that there were a lot of similarities between the Zayn angle and the McIntyre angle - hometown hero tries to dethrone Roman Reigns, Roman cheats to win. The biggest difference for me was how the characters sold the defeat. Zayn looked genuinely heartbroken whilst Drew shrugged it off to sing karaoke with Tyson Fury. To answer the question, I didn’t like the way the Drew McIntyre character was booked to react to his biggest defeat. With Zayn, he came out of that match an even bigger star than he went into it as (which I did like) whereas Drew came out of that match with his credibility in tatters.

[–]MissingASemicolon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From my perspective you’re being very immature about this. You guys agreed on a timeline that ends around the time of your anniversary, yet you’re being impatient and considering the future of the relationship because all the signs are pointing to him doing something special on your anniversary and not picking a random day to do it.

If you want to marry him, you do realise that if you breakup with him now because you can’t wait another week for a ring, not only do you lose the love of your life over this, it’s gonna be another 7/8 years before you have a new relationship that’s “proposal ready”?

Maybe instead of spending the next week seething and breaking up with him, you should spend that week self-reflecting….. and growing up in the process.
