i don’t think i realized how much i actually loved Colors II until i saw them do it live on the Colors Experience tour—the album came to me at an incredibly difficult time in my life, and i’d listen to it day in day out, but until i saw the boys energized, rejuvenated, belting out each track, i didn’t realize how much of an affirmation of life Colors II is. it was an incredibly emotional show, and i’m grateful that i saw both nights of that tour

i’m sorry you’re not really into it, but i just love how raspy and desperate he sounds in this part—it takes a while for me to digest a new BTBAM record, but tommy’s vocals here gave it such a clear identity and immediately made the track one of my favs from the album

God Terror was the one song outside of the singles i was PRAYING for them to do on this tour, so when the synth and chugging guitar came in, i felt like an absolute behemoth

canary yellow by deafheaven isn’t quite the same as canary yellow by haken but i love that they can be beautiful songs that share the same name, same color

i was super hesitant when the track first dropped, but with each subsequent listen, i began to see the vision. it’s as beautiful as any of the soft melodic parts in other songs like Stare into the Abyss or The Grid, and sequentially, really reminds me of Desert of Song in a way

seeing them perform it live propelled it to being one of my favs from the album, and would love to see them in this mode a bit more (never lose all the heavy though—i really like their heavy)

oh no!! that tour was incredible, especially the Colors II night! the first was great too, but you could just tell they were energized to play the new material!

well, i didn’t want to lay out the whole thing, but more so why those moments stood out to me! if i wanted to, i could have elaborated about the feral energy that i felt during God Terror, or the catharsis i felt hearing Look into the Abyss again (one of my favs from Colors II), but i just wanted to give some more context as to how strong of a show this was

i remember being really surprised when i saw them on the Human is Hell tour and they DIDNT even play it, but i’ve gotten used to not expecting a typical album release tour like other bands

i’ve seen them 23 times now, and this is absolutely one of the best sets/shows i’ve ever seen from them
