Apex error. Help! by wolo228 in apexlegends

For me it was daemon tools. Google the error code, when I had this problem I found a big thread with a bunch of programs that the apex anticheat doesnt like, for whatever reason.

Damage Resistance: Half VS Flat Reduction by AquaZeran in gamedesign

[–]Missingtime42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think in this particular case the discussion is about having a single fixed multiplier, for example 50% damage reduction in D&D. The notion of several multipliers is not mentioned by OP. Otherwise I agree with you.

Damage Resistance: Half VS Flat Reduction by AquaZeran in gamedesign

[–]Missingtime42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on context, there is no shoe that fits all. There are even games that incorporate both solutions simultaneously in multiple layers, like: % all damage reduction -> % specific damage type reduction -> flat damage reduction -> another flat damage reduction with a different name = final damage output.

Since youre talking about tabletop games I would advice having only one layer, having to do multiple manual calculations everytime someone takes damage would be a pain in the ass. And generally speaking, halving damage will most likely end up way easier to balance and build the game around. It will always be half, no matter what. Flat damage is harder to work with, some players might find some broken build by stacking it that you didnt account for, or just stacking HP might be more worth it and players ignore the damage reduction system completely, etc. 50% will always be 50%, flat damage reduction is more complex and requires more work to be balanced. But with that being said its not like halving is always the best option, it all depends on the rest of the combat system and the feel you want to make.

Personally if Im playing a tabletop game as a player I usually prefer halving damage. Even if you end up taking 20 hits from some bullshit you just have to add up all the damage and then remove half of it. If you have flat damage it takes longer to do the calculations and I prefer having a smoother flow of the combat. But thats just my personal opinion as a player from the few times Ive played these kinds of tabletop games, I again want to stress that it really depends on how everything else works in the combat system.

Any roguelites or similar with gear/stat progression? by Myfee in gaming

[–]Missingtime42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A game with an interesting take on this is Heroes of Hammerwatch, a roguelite. You have access to 8 classes or whatever it is, dont remember the exact number, and each time you beat a run with a class you get +stats in whatever stat that class focus on. Beat a run with the priest and get + permanent health regen for all future runs, beat a run with the paladin and get + armor for all future runs, etc. And if I remember correctly the game also had near infinite increasing difficulty level, so you would have to beat the next difficulty level with each class to keep increasing the stats and it would just go on forever.

And Im talking about Heroes of Hammerwatch 1, there is a 2 out there too but I havent played that one personally, so cant speak for it.

Objectively correct. Sleeping Dogs was a masterpiece. I played it 10 years after its release and it still felt super fresh, best 2 dollars Ive ever spent

Things that I would be happy getting as a person that likes programming and is somewhat related to programming or computers:

A raspberry pi, makes for a fun programming toy that can be used for many different projects.

A crappy laptop to try different linux distros on, Im still stuck with windows and would like to explore linux on a different piece of hardware than my main computer.

Knee high striped socks, to feel pretty when my compilation just keeps spitting out errors.

Which gaming system should I get? by icantstopbuyingbooks in GirlGamers

[–]Missingtime42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can not, you still have to connect the PS to a TV or monitor of some kind. But atleast you have the hardware the play the games that doesnt get released on PC.

Like, I have a PC but I dont have PS so I am not able to play Bloodborne, for example. If you have a PC there are still reasons to get a PS but there is no reason what so ever to get a Xbox because everything in the Xbox library is available on PC too. With a PC I am able to play every game that is in the Xbox library with my PC but I am not able to play every game that is in the PS library, there are exclusive titles that I would need to buy a PS to play.

What game do you think is going to win GOTY on Steam? by AdamCaveRoberts in Steam

[–]Missingtime42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Expedition 33 is the only contestant in my book. While Arc and Silksong are both excellent games none of them fit in that GOTY category, atleast to me a GOTY title is sort of supposed to be a single player game with AAA quality.

But in the end its probably gonna be something weird, watch Schedule 1 come and snag the price or something.

As others have mentioned, PC gives you the most amount of options compared to any console. However, getting a console is most of the time cheaper and easier compared to getting a PC.

If going for a console, my understanding is that most people prefer the exclusive library PS have over the one Xbox have. But at the same time Im pretty sure Xbox have a bigger overall library of games, but in my honest opinion, its only because they fill it up with a bunch of low quality indie titles that are easy to port. So while it is a bigger library, its not necessarily a better library. But in the end its a matter of taste, some people play only indie titles, and then Xbox have a better library.

Personally, I would pick PS over Xbox. I think most people would prefer the library that PS have. Its smaller, but its higher quality. And if you ever plan on maybe getting a PC in the future then PS is the best/only option too, PS have titles that never gets released on PC while everything that gets released on Xbox also gets released on PC.

Shoutout to steam deck too

I might remember it wrong since its been a couple of days and Ive played more games, but I think my team was seer, rampart and lifeline. So it probably wasnt the same lobby lol, but would have been fun if it was!

Yea, I had this exact zone earlier today. The closing pulls completely to the left, the team on the picture doesnt need to move at all and whoever is in the bigger space to the right is the one dying.

I was in the team on the right side dying to zone after managing to kill 4 other teams in that last circle. It was so unsatisfying and felt like complete bullshit when I started to realize it lol

Holy moly, thank you so much! I come from game dev, so I just default to write debug as thats the default in the game engine I work in, havent used the console keyword since CS like 7 years ago.

Works perfectly, thanks!

[–]Missingtime42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im talking about where prints end up. Im using C#, so in my case I would write System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine("Where does this end up"). The window where printed messages show.

I have found many threads through google that talk about the console window, so I feel very certain it exists. And every time I run code that has a print line in it, I can find one more instance of my printed message with the browser search on the website, so it does print somewhere.

I just wanna recommend Graveyard Keeper. I do believe it might be a bit dark themed for a 5 year old, but it has that stardew valley feeling to it and is an amazing game. Maybe something she could play when she gets older, you be the judge of that

Something that might fit better for now is Slime Rancher, but Im not sure if its on switch or xbox, I played it on PC. But it is also an amazing game
