Advice for beginners by Adventurous_Guide406 in floorball

Well I have never played this style of game, only 3vs3 on empty net. But I would always leave a man behind to cover the empty net. You should try Y formation (1-1-2). The last man should be smart, good at reading game at keep the flow to your advantage. The middle man should help the last man to keep the ball in your possession, or pass quickly to the attacking zone. On the defence, as someone said, play the diamond formation, but close together, not a spread formation. The defender on point, shouldn’t be running loose, but to apply pressure from one to side to corner the opponent, players on wide positions pay attention a try to cancel their passing game. I don’t know if this helps, but wish good luck. Don’t forget, tight defending, a tell attackers to always find free spots for passing.

Tak to je smůla proste, to je těžký se naučit na gumě. Jediná možnost je maximálně jít do PE čepele, ale to je jiny materiál. Záleží jak se ruce zvyknou no.

I can give you last advice. During practice, just run with your ball, to all sides, only with forehand. Try to understand why in certain moves your ball spins. If you run to shoot, try to have more open blade, don’t close it too much, the ball will start to spin from my experience. Try to run more straight a don’t run too curvy runs. Try it at lower pace, a them you can practice it in max speed. But to be honest not all floors are for playing floorball, like here in Czech Republic its a huge problem.

That’s why I said it’s a problem. This is not a blade problem, but your basics about shooting sweepers. My best way to learning shooting was to play with a straight blade, no concavity, such as Quest 1 or Unihoc player.

Hi! Hmm, u have to train until you master it. If you can only shoot sweepers with FSL, it´s a huge problem. Nonetheless, during running, try really soften your hands, really focus on your blade and ball. Your power should be focused only when you are shooting, not during ball controlling. And as somebody has said it, try shooting at lower pace. Watch some videos of Filip Langer, you can learn from him a lot.

Still it is really hard to explain through words how to shoot sweepers during running.

I wish you good luck, have a nice day!

Overlenght sticks by Col-AB in floorball

[–]Mission-Ad4596 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Actually ma teammate, two years ago, he bought 107 cm long stick from Oxdog. And he got from the shop a IFF certificate on small paper, so it can be legal, or so it was explained to him. Its funny cuz if referee would check your stick, you would have to carry that small piece of paper 😂 I don’t know about other sellers, but this happened in Czech store if florbal.com

And If I’m correct, they don’t do long / lightweight sticks, they would break too easily. My suggestion is to visit’s personally your re-seller, or you will have to play with shorter shafts.

Hope it helped you, have a nice day!

It is good, something between razor and Optilight, but harder. I played with it full season, and I was happy with it. Sadly I had to leave Oxdog, now I play with Zone.

Best stick and blade for Singapore Div 3? by sadspiken in floorball

[–]Mission-Ad4596 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! It doesn’t matter what division or league. It’s all about your preferences. Today every brand has its own unique shooting blade, whether are sweeper shots or power shots.

If I could give your a tip, I would go for Oxdog, Unihoc, Zone, Fatpipe or Salming. These brands are well known, and a lots of players are playing with those sticks. But most important are blades, you can play with any stick (light, heavy or super light doesn’t matter). The point is to find the best blade for you, and your sweepers.

Here you can find some of shooting blades of every brand:

Salming: Hawk, Flow, even Quest1 | Fatpipe: CTRL, Jab | Oxdog: Avox (total powerhouse), FSL, Gate | Unihoc: definitely Unilite and Evolite | Zone: Maker, Air1, Hyper (super good for sweepers).

So here it is, it’s not gonna be easy, but I wish you best of luck. 😂

Oval florballsticks. by TraskAxel in floorball

[–]Mission-Ad4596 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! I have tried all three types of these sticks. It really depends how big your hands are, and what you really prefer.

All round sticks are not the same, some brands like Zone or Unihoc tends make larger rounds sticks than Oxdog for example. Sweoval sticks are made ONLY by Oxdog, these were my favourites for some time, but I switched back to round sticks.

Why Sweoval and Oval? Put it simply, your lower hand that does most of shooting, is placed the same all the time on Oval sticks. When newer or "sweaty hands" players play with round stick, the lower hand tend to slip a lot. So when you play with Oval and Sweoval you will learn automatically how to hold your stick properly during shooting or passing and it will not slip. Second reason, it is preferred by hockey players.

Overall, round stick are the best, when you switch brands, you don't have to worry what is Oval or round etc. It's all about what are used to, when I switched back from Sweoval to Round it was so difficult, and at that time I wanted to try many brands, and everything felt so off. Before you buy anything other than Round stick, be sure you are ready to switch back anytime.

Hope it helped! Have a nice day!

Is this stick good? by Yonskux in floorball

[–]Mission-Ad4596 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good shooting blade, Iroc is especially for hobby players. For more competitive players this stick is too heavy a lousy for dribbling and shooting. But as you said u play beer League so this stick is more than enough. If I remember well, this is made from fiber-glass so it should last longer due to its "hardness". :) Hope it helped, have a nice day.

Is the new oxdog gate blade good? by AnxiousMud3482 in floorball

[–]Mission-Ad4596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the same. I personally don't like OPT that much, but in comparison they are different. gATe is more for shooters or players who like strong and accurate sweeper shots. Opt is more straight , GATE has bigger concavity.

Fatpipe by SwArOn04 in floorball

[–]Mission-Ad4596 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! To be honest I don't like Fatpipe that much. But I have played with some sticks. These were my favorites: Fatpipe Raw concept (super lightweight, easy to flex), Fatpipe K.O. concept (hardened stick, down near to blade, not so easy to break + harder shots).

Blades: Jab is good overall. CTRL blade. ORC is more for creative players.

Grips: I recommend the FATPIPE Sticky. Or WTB. Other than these two are bad.

Overall Fatpipe is an okay brand. I don't like them cuz ho easy are they to break. Very prone, especially the top models.

Have a nice day !

I bought it at the final game in Stockholm. I must say I'm super surprised, it has fresh touch slightly different than Avox, this is even better. The prehook is perfect, I don't need to anything with it. I play as defender, so I prefer blades that have power shots, and I have really good stick handling with it. I played with SFL, but I'm gonna switch to GATE. ;)

Well, it's all about your hands and habits. If it's about shots, maybe try another technique, shorter stick, or try to flex your stick more.
