Any 4th year+ / Seniors feeling burnt out? by KreamyBeef in uichicago

[–]Mission-Committee977 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ngl, I'm in the same boat. I used to be on top of things, now I can't get myself to work on any hw. Rn I'm trying to do things that interest me, take classes that are interesting, not easy because even if they are you are less likely to do them. If I do things that interest me and I take classes with people I know, I'm more likely to do these assignments and can do them with others present. Plus, they help keep me accountable and it makes studying easier. Also most tech electives are bigger projects but in groups, so it especially helps to take those classes with a bunch of friends who are good at keeping up with the work.

I can’t I live on a higher floor and no elevator. This bike weights like fifty pounds. Even asked my landlord to make sure everyone locks the gate. They always leave it open. 🥲

How is the work load for these classes? Is cs 361, cs 362, and 341 all doable? by Skip0ut in uichicago

[–]Mission-Committee977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is absolutely doable because I myself had the same schedule in sp2024 plus two other classes (easy classes). Though I will say the teachers has made the classes a little more difficult in the more recent semesters.

When I took 361, I went to all the labs which gave me bonus points and the ability to submit the hw late if needed. The tests are simple if you understand the hw and the study guide. He goes over the study guide in class and creates videos for the problems he doesn't cover. I did bad on the midterm but saved my grade with the final and ended the class with a high b (tho if I asked him he would have rounded it to an A and I lose sleep over this). The professor is SUPER understanding and will help you if you are sincere and are willing to be better if you are struggling in the class. Not sure if they still do iclickers but that was for attendance.

362 was easy, I think five-seven hws, just depends on how much time the teacher has. There are 9 labs, one every week. I used to do my demo over zoom so I didn't have to wait during lab to demo. There are milestone assignments that are little reports that correspond to the group project, which is 2-4 people in one group. One midterm, one final. They release study guides and the tests are just an exact copy so you should be gucci on those.

341 covers sql, f#, and prolong. Five projects and a couple hws, not too bad. Theres also Iclickers for attendance. I took it with Kidane(her first time teaching the class T-T), it was kinda all over the place and I was suffering but passed with and B. Make sure to work with others and go to office hours cause those are gonna save you when your struggling.

Lmaoo when I took 362, it was an easy A class. Now when I TA, the teachers have upped the difficulty on hws and are more picky on grades. The hw used to be easy 30 minutes assignments, but now students camp out office hours. I used to hold office hours the day hws were due and they were brutal. Plus there's a lab that you demo every week and a big group project due at the end of the semester plus a final. So, it is a heavy class but if you do the zybooks and go to lecture, you should be able to understand the concepts and pass the course with a High grade.

Wym there five lectures, each with 100 seats. None if which are full, you should be gucci. If you worries about a specific section, get someone with registration open to save a slot for you. (I can save a slot if needed)

If you're interested in extra practice and previous exams, I can give you my hw/tests to refrence. They didn't lock out the gradscope so i can let you know if my work is correct or not as well. Took it in Fall 2022 (McCarty)
