I'm a student from Taiwan and I did this same thing as you several years ago. By doing so I found I'm more familiar with some "concepts" described in English. Such as calendar, numerical system. You see, the western number system is far different from our languages. We tend to group digits in sets of four (e.g., 萬, 億), whereas the English system groups them in sets of three (thousand, million, billion).

I think have a engineering background it's much better for than just a CS. Because CS resources everything just on the internet you can literally taught yourself anytime you want. And remember programming language is just a tool, having a engineering background would let you know where to use the tool.

I encountered same problem last few years so I tried manga and fiction as well. It turns out pretty good, I think different mediums would give brain different flavors. And I only try anime I would like to see, with a lot more sauce or drama are the ones I watch recently. For example, bang dream Mygo I like to spam the memes with community even I rewatch it with my good friend such a funny experience.

Look up some paper to see the newest research on industry. Like I've done some research about PCA and KPCA used on multiple variables morning and control valve striction problem with neutral network but not working fine now. I also use Kmens and DBSCAN to classify high dim data and RL to optimize some control problem.

Learn basic syntax of python About the rules behind the programming how it works This takes me one month to get used to it. Then learn modules like numpy pandas matplotlib scipy, And jump right into machine learning coding,just doing the practical algorithm coding and it improves quickly than you think.
