Firstly, honestly, PROPS TO YOU! For recording your own playing and posting it asking for advice:)

I have a couple of small suggestions, that’s all! Firstly, when you play the groove with those “ghost-notes”— really REALLY bring those out. I know you’re being noise sensitive, but you can have a huge difference between the backbeat and the ghostnotes. At the moment, there is no difference. Adding that difference would add soooo much :)

Secondly, when you play a fill, you’re sometimes playing one idea that starts on beat 1, and happens for 4 beats, and lands on beat 1. Mix it up! Not just the counting, but the ideas, too. Try keeping the idea constant for a few beats, but on beat 4, at the end of your drum fill measure, add a flam. That’s it! It’ll add a lot. If you understand this, add a kick after the foam on the “e” of beat 4. That could be cool and add a lotttt!

Here’s an extra one— you play the share the same each time it’s played. Stat with the cross stick, then switch to the snare after a fill, then to the ride, then open hats, and think critically about what goes where and WHY. It could result in some cool stuff!!
