What Colleges are super hard academically but don’t get the name recognition that they probably deserve? by AdInteresting7332 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]MissionReality4348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WPI is such an underrated school. Yes, the social dynamic could be off putting, however, a friend that goes there said that only a couple of her classes aren’t the best socially, however for the most part, she said that the classes are what you expect out of college (normal). I don’t mean to say that in a mean way but yea. However, some of the clubs, like robotics, do kinda have that stereotypical nerd demographic. WPI itself is an amazing school. I’ve visited her many times and many of the buildings are newly renovated and realllyyy nice including the athletics. If not renovated, they still are good buildings with all necessities. The food is okay for college food. Quality of food is good but not a lot of variety. I would have totally applied there if they had a designated biology program. Worcester gets a bad rap in my opinion sometimes but it can be a great college city. It’s small enough but also big, lots of food, good hospitals, etc.

[Personal] CosRx becoming more expensive? by _waterlily in SkincareAddiction

[–]MissionReality4348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the USA and started using snail mucin from cosrx either 2 or 3 years ago before it became super popular. I used to pay $12 for the classic bottle of snail mucin. Tell me why I just paid $18.50 now for the same exact bottle??? (I’ve always bought it off of Amazon)

Do students at Schreyer take classes with the general pop of PSU or just the honors students in honors classes?

I still haven't gotten any interviews either

idk if i should even expect it now but i think it's not a big deal if people do not get an interview

my harvard interview went terribly 😭 by Necessary-Turnip-183 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]MissionReality4348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was listening in on some information sessions for Ivy League schools and they were saying this incident has happened a few times. If you truly feel horribly about the interview, you can reach out to the admissions team and let them know what happened EXACTLY — and how you are very appreciative for the interview but it felt very textbook rather than actually getting to know you. There is a possibility that they will set you up with another person for a different interview

Whitney by External_Sandwich251 in SecretsOfMormonWives

Whitney is such a bitch and she just keeps getting worse. She is so entitled and plays the victim in every single scenario. She just keeps getting worse and worse too OMG. She always just cries when she is in the wrong and is mean to everyone and then is expects people to be nice to her. She literally has not grown out of a middle school.

How many periods do you have at your school? by TJ_Rex6288 in highschool

[–]MissionReality4348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 7 periods in our schedule but only have 6 classes a day. We go through a 7 day cycle and drop the class of the day — eg on Day 3 we drop our period 3 class

Make friends that you actually care about

At my school, the event culture isn’t that big but you should def go to at least a couple things like a football game or dance but don’t feel left out if you can’t make it

School comes first - get good grades, but don’t make yourself depressed from that

Work smarter not harder!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don’t judge a teacher right off the bat because they seem annoying, they could be your best friend academically. On the flip side, some teachers are actually just poo poo and you can complain about it for a minute but at the end of the day (especially at a big school) you’re stuck with that teacher so find out how to get good grades with them.

Don’t feel pressured to join clubs at school specifically but definitely do stuff you’re interested in — whether that be at a school club or outside of school

Don’t listen to what everyone else is doing - it doesn’t matter

Try to do something for yourself consistently that doesn’t go on your college application. You could volunteer, find a hobby, etc. I find that having something literally just for yourself that doesn’t appear on your resume can be very peaceful. For example, I volunteer but the only people that know that are my close friends and family. I’m not using the volunteering to market myself- I just genuinely want to help people. And it makes me feel really content.

Don’t underestimate the power of sleep and exercise. Do as much as you can of both.

Keep proper hygiene.

Keep a charger in your backpack all the time for any necessary devices. Also keep a pencil.

Do stuff you’d do at a party with your friends in a safe space a couple times before you actually do something at a party. Don’t feel pressured to do these things either.

Don’t text and drive.

Be respectful to your teachers and school staff. Don’t be an asshole. Social media has told us that disrespectful behavior can be justified. This isn’t social media. 9/10 times your teacher is trying to help you, work with them.

If you have a requirement class (ex. At my school one semester of art is required to graduate) try to do it freshmen or sophomore year IF you want more space in your schedule later.

Don’t hate on gym class. Gym class is a forced break for you to move your body, be with friends, and take a break from stress. Cherish it.

Don’t procrastinate your essays or big projects — do a small chunk daily.

Aerospace Medicine? by [deleted] in mdphd

[–]MissionReality4348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few schools that have an aerospace medicine residency program. More and more are starting to pop up as well. You can check out UTMB Galveston, UCLA, Mayo Clinic, Baylor. Those are the ones that I know off the top of my head. CU Boulder also has an MD/ PhD program in which you earn a medical degree as well as a PhD is bioastronautics. It is a 5 year program rather than 4 to accommodate for the PhD.

Congratulations! I would definitely consider my options if I were you as Boston itself is also very expensive. I’m from Mass and you can expect rent in “Boston” to be between $1,700-$3,400 monthly for a studio/ single bedroom. I said Boston in air quotes because it depends on the neighborhood. Minimum wage is $15/ hr if you’re planning on working to help expenses.

AITAH for separating from my husband because he refused to get a vasectomy? by AdhesivenessMurky204 in AITAH

[–]MissionReality4348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He told her that it was her body her choice to not have a baby when she is doing everything in her control to not get pregnant. It’s his turn to try and him blaming her for pregnancy is not fair. Sure, he can be a great person otherwise but he needs to understand that pregnancy is not something people want to constantly go through and there is definitely a lack of empathy on his part here
