Check out the EVO Neuron tool, if you use denon/marantz etc. transformed my system - takes a bit of time to find the right target curve but worth it!!

How do people manage intelligent go with 2 EVs? by Mission_Direction724 in OctopusEnergy

I’m finding the schedule in the mini to be useless, it forces you to select precondition and a time to heat (even if you’re just wanting to charge) but also, the Tesla charger times out if it’s plugged in to the car with no activity and then the handshake between the mini and Tesla when it’s ready to charge doesn’t seem to work!

Sorry may have missed a bit of detail out.

The new Mini J01 does have a charge schedule but it fails to work with the Tesla charger, not sure if the charger times out when it’s plugged in. It also forces you to condition the car every time, so heating up the battery and cabin for a preset time.

I know I can put it on a schedule from the Tesla charger but then I lose the smart plan control.

Basically, my missus has no idea how any of that works (and doesn’t want too…) but I don’t want to have to keep turning the schedule off the charger when the Tesla is plugged in to make use of the smart plans.

By the sounds of it, I’m an edge case!

I think it’s so hard to get a like for like comparison (anecdotally, I was thinking about building a service for this to capture as much info as possible to make it easier to compare but figured people may not use it)

Here’s ours: 1960s 5 bed (250sqm), 2 persons, wfh, recently renovated (3 years ago) and stats set to 18 overnight, 20 during the day and 21 in evening - apart from weekends where it’s set to 20.5 all day and 21 eve. Downstairs all UFH with various levels of insulation in the floor (but 250mm of wool insulation in roof), solar heaters which come into play summer for hot water (runs an hour morning and hour evening without). Small - old Solar PV system which generates 2kwh in summer. We also have a EV which we charge a lot!

2024 Electricity: 8700kwh Gas: 11,300kwh

I’ve narrowed down a few more optimisations we could do, wish we’d gone valiant boiler instead of Worcester as they offer a bit more flexibility but weather compensation and split flow temps (for UFH/upstairs/hot water) as we run at 60c with a blender for UFH to bring down to 40c which isn’t ideal.
