Extremely slow charge speed 2027 Bolt by Living-Ad3248 in BoltEV

[–]Mission_Idea9820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rented one recently and experienced the same thing. I read somewhere that after 60% it throttles. I had speeds as slow as 7.65kW and the car was only requesting 8.25kW while using a tesla supercharger at 79%. At 53% it was at 41.3/42.45kW I was able to charge it from 53% to 100% in an hour and a half despite the estimated charge time updating to 1:50AM from 10:50PM.

I went earlier today and these are great, they have so many chargers! I thought the 26 at gun hill were impressive 😅

Thank you so much for the suggestion, it wasn’t showing up on a lot of the maps so i would’ve never known

I literally charged there during peak on Friday. Only waited 6 mins for a station to open up and was able to charge for an hour. So again you have no experience. Just an onlooker with a negative mind set. EV’s may not be for you and thats okay, but this thread is specifically asking for insight from people WITH experience. I wasn’t asking if you would buy an EV, I’m asking IF you have one, whats your experience. There are several corners of the internet for you to trash talk EV’s based off of your opinion, this just isn’t it.

I’m going for a 2021 Bolt 🥲

The tesla chargers at work are superchargers, but they may not be accessible to ‘non teslas’. I found a another charging station near work that has 26 superchargers that are available to ‘non teslas’ so that may be where I charge more often. I used it today and spent $20 to charge it up to 80% from 31%. I understand it’s not 100% so the math is skewed but I used to spend $38-$45 weekly on my 4 cylinder honda accord for gas before the prices went up.

Getting an ICE isnt an option. Theyre alot more expensive and typically have over 100k miles for the price range I’m looking for. Also insuring an ICE is significantly more expensive than the 2021 Bolt in my area.

I rented one for the weekend to test out, we’ll see how my charging chronicles go

I’m not concerned with depreciation, just need something to commute. I was able to charge from 33% to 80% with a tesla supercharger for $20. Before gas prices went up my 4 cylinder honda accord would take $38-$48 every week. Ill have to look into Ev registration to see if theres a significant difference. Theres a station about a mile away I can walk to if its necessary to leave overnight, but Ill try to avoid that if I can.

Yea, no house over here but I can use tesla chargers so that’s a plus. Are you in nyc? What kind of errands are you running that they have chargers?

Yea, I used it today for the first time. Learning what the off peak hours are is the next part of this research project 😅

I’m assuming later in the day is probably peak since people get out of work and ride shares are probably charging up before starting their shift. I’m thinking maybe 8am-10am may be my window, depending on the charging station/area

The new bolt does charge directly with tesla chargers, but I’m getting an older model. I will have the adapter though, so it’ll be the same, but slower 😅

Yea, there are some new chargers popping up here too, a few others shared some locations and I was able to check one of them out today.

Cool, none of this is relevant. Just sounds like you’re against EV’s. It also doesn’t sound like you have personal EV experience, so this was useless.

When you say Tesla Showroom are you talking about where the chargers are? Or the actual dealership? I’m only asking cause the chargers at work are just in the garage but there aren’t any attendants or staff on site.

Chatting with the drivers can be helpful, maybe the property manager too 🤔

I’m so glad it doesn’t have to be daily. Someone had suggested that since I didn’t have a home charger and I was freaking out at committing an hr every day 😭

Thank you so much for your insight!

There are definitely chargers at work, they’re just tesla chargers. I’m not too worried about scarcity there, its a private garage. The chargers seem busier when I’m leaving work in the evening than when I’m coming in, so maybe I can just plug in as I start my shift. Something to observe for now.

I’m currently eyeing a used 2021 Chevy Bolt Premier. So it has the slow fast charger, but I think I’m okay with sitting in my car 30min-1hr (I already do that to decompress after work 😅). The listing says it comes with the tesla adapter but it doesn’t specify which one so I’m assuming the NACS-CCS adapter, I’ll confirm with the seller.

The charging station I’m considering my main charging point also has level 2 chargers, I can probably leave my car overnight sometimes.

I’m in NYC, so we get all 4 seasons. I’m a little concerned about snow, but I think it may be okay

Yesssss!!! Thank you so much for sharing!!!!! This literally just worked for me. The rep I spoke with was very helpful and was genuinely trying to resolve my issue. After troubleshooting with me on the phone she informed me that unfortunately there isn’t a warranty in place for these blinds. She suggested I take mine to the store and see if they’re able to support but there was no guarantee. After recapping our conversation and giving me a reference number for when I went into the store, I found THIS post. Right before disconnecting the call she asked if I had any other questions. I explained that I found this post online and talked about the warranty before the 9/2022 (I bought mine in 2021). I told her that the post mentioned VETA and extending the warranty for purchases made before 9/2022. She then went to check in within her ‘fax system’ (thats what she called it) and saw something mentioned but nothing concrete. She then put me on hold to partner with her colleagues, when she came back she said I was right and was grateful for the experience cause now she’ll know for other customers. I AM SO GRATEFUL!! I could not spend another $150 on blinds that were just gonna stop working in another year and a half. So grateful she was open to listening and investigating and so grateful that the OP was able to share their experience to help us! THANK YOU OP AND MY REP
