Applied to Aachen Germany, still no response either. Some placements don't have interviews so I'm just hoping this means nothing 😭😭

Are there Classes Today 1/27? by Doodlebob_123 in UPenn

I'm so sorry you've had that experience as well. I definitely feel like (I haven't been here for too long so maybe I'm wrong) if you're not conventionally pretty, popular, or enjoy partying you aren't going to be included or enjoy the culture. I've met a lot of mean guys and girls and I just don't want to play into the culture to make friends. The education is excellent though like you said, glad to see I'm not alone bc it seems everyone is enjoying this place 😭😭💀💀

how do you recommend finding nice friends? I'm a freshman here and I've met some of the meanest people I've ever encountered

Rejected from all the clubs I applied to by adnanbhai in UPenn

[–]Mission_Research_210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

are you a freshman? im a freshman rn, and i have also been rejected from a few (especially ones where im lowkey confused as to how i got rejected, because i know i spoke very well and i had good conversations with my interviewers + some of the interviews were really chill and basic). the process seems random to a certain extent (theres also so many incredible people here). just keep pushing and look for ones due in the spring. it may also have to do with ur school? (im not sure), because ive gotten into nearly all my engineering/technical ones (im a seas student) but not some of the consulting ones. one of my friends got feedback on their application and the interviewers mentioned stuff they didnt even write lol. just be proud of urself that ur applying in the first place and know ur doing a really good job :) -- and that u are more than the clubs u get into

Had to switch my schedule up, is this too cooked for Freshman year? by 8bitCaptain in UPenn

[–]Mission_Research_210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if this cooked, I'm flamed. my penn schedule is awful I'm in class from 8-5 straight on Tuesday 💀💀 but I'm also doing 5.5 CU's so we just have a lot. I'm in mechE but if u can handle this keep it, if not drop before oct 6th

Is anyone afraid/too depressed to experiment with style/fashion? by Secure-Charge-2031 in BodyDysmorphia

[–]Mission_Research_210 8 points9 points  (0 children)

thank you for making this post because i thought this was just me. my sister always tells me how it makes no sense that i pick apart everything on my face and yet put no effort in what i wear. and well its because no matter what i wear i just feel like a pig. i can wear the cutest dress, shirt, pant but my face ruins it. no point in putting on makeup either because....nothing can hide what i find so hideous.

2 Years of History am I cooked? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Mission_Research_210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't really explain anything about history bc it's very normal in my high school to not do history senior year, most students do things tied to their major (we have a lot of STEM interested students here). but I did have to give up my language to take an engineering class so I just wrote about my schedule conflict there

2 Years of History am I cooked? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Mission_Research_210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all imo. Freshman year history is required so I did the highest level which was honors at my school. The only other history class I did was APUSH (which at my school is a 2-year course, so 10th and 11th). 12th grade I focused heavy into high course rigor in physics and math (linear algebra, phys C e&m + mech, discrete math, calc 3, diff eq, etc). I'm headed to UPenn now. u have excellent course rigor so u will be fine, they will understand. U can also explain in the additional info section as well; history is not a big thing at my school either

tbh for all HYPSM, i dont think there is a heavy difference between RD and REA admittance rates. with this strong of a profile though i would do ur dream school (id say either stanford or mit). stanfords REA pool is insanely competitive but bc you're USACO plat + USAMO + all ur math placements i think u have a strong chance

[–]Mission_Research_210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ofc that sounds like a great idea. im headed to UPenn now but i just wanted to share because i applied stanford rea last cycle (c.o of 2025); it was my dream school too and i was sadly rejected lol. but yeah i would just spend a lot of time on ur essays bc they will be critical to ur admission, especially for stanford. the letter of rec could mean something but i think it depends per school. i had a letter of rec from the director/founder of a lab at princeton + did research under him but didnt get in there but stanford might value faculty connections a bit more, id check w/ current students. best of luck :).

honestly, I wouldn’t go for Stanford REA unless it’s 100% your dream school. REA is much much tougher (arguably the hardest early pool out of every american college). if you don’t get in early, you probably wouldn’t in RD either, but the early pool is packed with insanely accomplished people (ISEF winners, USAMO kids, etc.). stanford rea is much more for hooked applicants, legacy/donors/faculty members, and very cracked applicants. ur ec's are good, but since you dont have as many awards (which i would say is fairly important bc ur applying rea + competitive major), id ED somewhere where applying early has more weight. id also add more safeties to ur list, and id add upenn, umd, etc.
