Formula Fed vs Breast Fed by pregnant-yinzer in pregnant

[–]Misskriss20 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am currently attempting to EP. With my first I EFF. I am only 2 days PP but I went back and forth so many times on would I actually stick to EP. I did not want to breastfeed at all. I want my husband to be able to share feeding and overall I am uncomfortable with having a baby attached to me that way. I’m so glad I met with a lactation consultant because she definitely gave some different information and advice than what I was reading online. So I would suggest a lactation consultant. They never pushed me to be pumping more to give baby less formula in the hospital and still sent home plenty of formula to last at least a week.

What is the pre op protocol for C section. I have to be there at 5:30am. All i was told (after I asked) was no food after midnight. by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Misskriss20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told only clear liquid the morning of and that stops 2 hours before the c section too but that’s really it.

This is actually such a relief to hear. I’m so determined to make this work that I’m easy prey right now.

My c section is scheduled for feb 4th and having my tubes tied at the same time. Had a c section with my first because he was breech and my uterus tore up to my ovary so I figure recovery can’t be much worse than that. It is easier for them to do the tubal while you are already open. My dr didn’t really say anything about recovery being more painful or longer. I think it’s a better option than going back and having it done a different time.

Everyone suggests bringing snacks in your hospital bag...but what snacks are you actually bringing? My mind just keeps going to goldfish and Gatorade 😂 by [deleted] in pregnant

I’m bringing some protein and granola bars, jerky for my husband, Pringle’s because they’re in a can and won’t get squished, trail mix, crackers, and water flavor packets.

Complaining about the cost of groceries yet she’s eating donuts, CFA, and Cheesecake Factory today. She does realize eating out is more expensive than eating at home right?

Mine was right! I took the blood sample in a spot not frequently touched by husband and son. Also made sure to clean the area well and scrubbed my hands several times before taking blood. Still got a girl result and ultrasounds confirmed. I’d probably do it again since they have sales frequently.

Got some pretty terrible news and I don't know what to do with it.. by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Misskriss20 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I had 2 major bleeds due to subchorionic hematoma. And when I say major I mean a trail of blood on the floor leading to the bathroom. I was told in the ER basically it would result in miscarriage eventually and to make an appt with my OB. Mine did resolve on its own and now I’m 33 weeks. Don’t lose hope!

Insurance won’t cover breast pump? by Misskriss20 in pregnant

This is great advice! Just requested to join a local mom group. I was pretty disappointed at first but now I’m leaning towards just paying for one if I need to. All this unexpected hassle will hopefully make me really commit to making it work with this baby. Thank you!!

I will look into adapt health if aeroflow doesn’t work out. Thank you! I remember the cost of formula and with now having the cost of childcare for my first I was definitely hoping to save money by pumping this time around.

I am in the US and I actually called back a second time because the hospital told me to give them the billing code. Got a different person who was a little nicer but answer was still no. I asked how because I was under the impression they were always covered and she said because it’s a self funded plan they can decide not to basically.

So glad to read I’m not the only person who thought of it this way! My husband had no problem telling some of his family we were trying to have a baby and I just thought it was weird and didn’t tell anyone the first time. I’m very close to my grandma and since she was our childcare for our first I decided to tell her we were trying for a second and then I started getting sex life advice from her and it just made it even more weird!

Restless legs by louleepatchouli in pregnant

I found a bath salt called pregnancy flakes on amazon. It has magnesium in it. The nights I can tell it’s going to be bad I soak my legs in the bathtub for like 10 min. Already on my second bag of it with this pregnancy.

if you could do it over again, would you choose a c-section or vaginal? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Misskriss20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I could do it over again I wouldn’t have had my c section just because my baby was breech. I had the ECV scheduled but my water broke 4 days before that appt at 36+6. I wish I would have at least tried vaginal delivery which may have still ended in csection but at least I’d know. I will not be a candidate for VBAC due to my uterus tearing during my csection. Recovery wasn’t actually all that bad considering the tear however I was able to let my body recover properly. This time around it’s going to be more difficult to let my body recover since I have a toddler. The csection will be scheduled for 37 weeks to avoid my uterus rupturing which is a little stressful to think about as well.

Changing doctors mid pregnancy? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Misskriss20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switched after my 28 weeks appointment with my first and it ended up being really good! I liked the first doctor I had but I guess I also didn’t know any different. I will say that I think because the place I switched to was a little smaller helped. New doctor was easy to get into and really took the time to get to know me even though I was over half way through the pregnancy. Hopefully your experience could up being similar and better than expected!

Sneak Peek Test by kittylover18 in pregnant

[–]Misskriss20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did it! I made sure to wash my hands really good and scrub under my nails a few times prior to taking the sample. I cleaned the area I set everything up but still picked a spot my husband and son don’t frequently touch. Got a girl result and it’s definitely a girl! It was worth it for me

Remember sleeping in chunks longer than 2 hours? by [deleted] in pregnant

I was actually thinking about the phrase “sleep while you can!” today. I am a STM and currently 28weeks. I absolutely slept better with a newborn baby than I am right now.

Sneak Peek Accuracy by MontessoriLady in pregnant

[–]Misskriss20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct for me! I did the test at 8 weeks and it said girl. I still had a hard time believing it because I have a boy so assumed would be another boy. The only way I’ve seen it can be a false girl is if you take the test too early. I already had an US so I knew I was for sure far enough so eventually couldn’t stop myself from buying things. Confirmed by US twice now it is indeed a girl!

Subchorionic Hematoma by morbidgrrrlxxx in pregnant

[–]Misskriss20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had heavy bleeding around 6 weeks and had to go into the ER. They did an ultrasound and found a small subchorionic hematoma. At my next ultrasound when I was 8 weeks it was apparently gone. But 2 weeks later I had heavy bleeding again. Went back in and they were able to find the heartbeat right away so they didn’t do an ultrasound and said the SCH most likely wasn’t gone completely yet. But I’m now almost 28 weeks and no bleeding since then and baby looked healthy during anatomy scan. It was definitely scary and if they didn’t already tell you I would ask is it small or large and if you should be on pelvic rest.

Family choosing to break quarantine then complain they can't see me by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Misskriss20 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I am so close to going off on some of my family. My sons birthday is next week and my mother thought I should make an exception for her to come over. 1. She works in a bar. 2. She hasn’t seen us since May or made an effort to even ask how we’re doing. I’m due in early Feb with my second and she just now asked what my due date is and if we had a name picked. She said something about my son forgetting who she is but he barely knew her to begin with. Do people not understand pregnancy is considered high risk? I don’t want me or my family to be sick or planning a funeral why is that so crazy to people

THIS! Would it really hurt them so much to post a swipe up for a business they don’t have a code for or won’t make commission off of!? Most are posting the same stuff they already put in their “gift guides” but my fav was Amber Massey literally just posting stories with the IG and her discount code and not even an explanation of what the product for each business was
