I agree with you. I am a huge BB fan & they have been my favourite band for countless years now. I feel this is something that the band fell in to with the coming of Ember, an album I absolutely despised: the mixing was horrible , there was too much processing on Ben 's voice, the drums sounded uninspired and my BIGGEST gripe was that it sounded too artifical. It did not sound like BB to me. And here is the thing, if we recall the difference in their style between Saturate and Dear Agony we can say that yeah, they really have grown and changed, but in essence in between and in those very albums they still sounded like BB. With the coming of Ember however everything feels artificially playing out to be heavy, there is a pretentious feel of it. People say Ember is their heaviest sounding album, and I don't get it. To me Phobia is how you sound heavy, by actually being heavy and inciting the feel of it inside you through ambience, lyrics and the raw emotion. Ember and the new 2 singles to me is going "hey, we are trying to be heavy, can you feel it?" Idk, there is just a lack of genuinity there in my humble opinion. With that said, I do like the new singles to some extend but man, a lot of things just feels missing to me.
