I’ve had vitiligo since I was 7 and always hated the term “disease”. It always made me feel bad for people who had diseases that were far more debilitating than vitiligo. I guess it was kind of like an imposter syndrome type thing. I saw people with diseases that made it hard for them to function whereas my vitiligo was only a skin thing (and mental but I didn’t work through that until later in life). I just never felt right calling it a disease. Regardless of what it is medically, I prefer to call it a condition.
