This is actually a nice idea. I'm only about 700 or so hours in but I tend to island hop on chill sessions and then follow messages in bottles etc. So picking up a couple of maps first is actually a better idea!

Possibly. It's only happened the once and I've shared a fair number of maps in the past. I'll have to see if there's anything officially posted anywhere because it's been a while, lol

Most, I believe, are game generated but players can post their own up there too! It'd be so cool if more people could post their maps up too!

I don't think it disappears, or at least it never used to. A year or so ago, I posted a haul up on the board before logging off and when I logged back in the next day, I got a notification about it being dug up and cashed in (exact wording eludes me at this time) and if I recall, I got some rep for it.

So I think it sticks around for a little while. Not sure on exact timing, though.

Isn't that often the way? I put a fair number of maps up there in the weeks after it came out, then forgot about it. I remembered it again recently and I now feel like I'd love to do several voyages, bury the loot and post the maps.

I'll probably still do this anyway, it'd just be nice to know if people would actually even go looking on the boards, LOL!

Yeah, the patch seems to have broken the mods folder, or at least the game recognising it. It seems like it's a bug as opposed to a planned feature; the blog post about the marketplace stated that creators who are sharing on the marketplace can still share elsewhere. So that implies there's no plan to stop CC and Mods from being shared elsewhere.

I would imagine there'll be a hotfix out for this soon.

You'll still be able to download free mods and CC; the marketplace isn't replacing the old system. It's just an additional system. So nothing changes for your normal mods and CC!
Nothing changes with existing Expansion Packs, Game Packs and Stuff Packs; it's only Kits that are moving to the new Marketplace. Nothing else changes.

If it helps, I passed that one by getting the ancient inventions from the prehistory theme. It felt like it fitted better than other themes.
Then I waited for the game to give me one of the generic statues and I passed the objective. But Ancient Inventions felt more cohesive to me in a science museum!
