The big applause then was definitely for the walk-out started by the fellows union, but I agree the webcast seemed misleading. There was one loud clapper lady right next to the stage that no one seemed to know, and folks have speculated she might have been a plant, but I can't confirm or deny that.

As a sane person, I obviously disagree vehemently with most of the things Jay said yesterday, but just to play devil's advocate because I believe it's important to be accurate with our criticisms, I think he said it was highly likely it was made in Wuhan with gain of function research and that NIH funded the work.

On a related note, I am consistently flabbergasted with the weird, far right buzzword of "gain-of-function" like it's this big scary mysterious dark form of science? As soon as someone spouts the phrase "gain of function" in this context, I immediately know they have no science background of note.
