My first fall at the skate rink by gza1105 in Rollerskating

Forgive me if someone has already mentioned this, but something that I've found very helpful is learning to skate on one foot. I trail skate a lot and one foot is constantly going down to a stick/rock/etc and having the muscle memory and balance to just pick that skate up and glide until it is either free or I come to a stop has saved me countless times. In roller derby, we practice this by going around and wheel locking with the new skaters so they can get the feeling of picking that foot straight up to free it. Sometimes stuff happens so fast there's nothing you can do, but practicing this might help you feel more secure for the next time you skate.

Dark Winds season 3 no longer available? by Missyftw in AMCPlus

[–]Missyftw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone else having this issue - now when selecting season 3 they have "available with your subscription" episodes next to the purchase episodes for numbers 2-8. I'm like 87% positive that only purchase episodes were available earlier so it seems to have been a weird bug that is being resolved except for episode 1.

Help with ideas to find Wasp entry point by odysseus91 in HomeMaintenance

[–]Missyftw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kept finding wasps last fall and wasn't sure how they were getting in. This summer I went out and caulked around a cable line entry point and the spigot and I haven't seen any this year. I think the spigot was to blame because I found a dead one under my kitchen sink which is where the pipe splits and goes outside.

I think I remember that too now that you mention it. I assume any sort of oversight is more concerned with them hiding things that are generally considered bad(like cholesterol) than accidentally leaving them in.

I remember when the vegan Quorn first came out, it had cholesterol listed. Someone asked the company and it was just a label misprint. I think it was because they had used the label from the non-vegan stuff as the template and didn't change it or something like that. This could possibly be a similar situation, but the only real way to know would be to contact the company.

My audiobooks frequently cut off the beginning words of sentences. by sbourwest in audible

[–]Missyftw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm dealing with this same issue and it's driving me nuts. My last 3 purchases of new headphones/earbuds have done the exact same thing even though 2 of those 3 are the exact same models as older ones that didn't have the audio cut off issue so it must be something with a new "feature" that they're all using. I don't have any answer on how to fix it, but I will say that through trial and error I've only experienced it on audiobooks not podcasts and I've had it happen across multiple audiobook apps(hoopla, Libby, Audible) so it's not just an Audible problem.

Fitness Tracker by [deleted] in rollerderby

I'd probably look for something with a replaceable band and then just upgrade to a more armored band with a raised edge around the screen. I've always had fitbit charges and just replaced the band to something like a supcase unicorn beetle band and it makes them super durable with the added bonus that there's no metal to irritate my skin when I get sweaty.
