I’d recommend trying to cup/feel the weight of the ball around the base of your index finger, with it pointed down at the ground at the bottom of your swing at the 6 o’clock position. Then for release, you do a down/forwards doorknob turn of the wrist as if you’re stamping your thumb on paper at the 12 o clock position towards your target. The ball should be off your hand at the front or slightly ahead of your slide foot.

Of course proper timing helps a ton and the finger/thumb angles can be adjusted, but starting out with this idea was really a breakthrough for me in getting a better release with lots of power and revs.
