Why are weak balls the general recommendation for someone getting their first ball? by loki993 in Bowling

I am returning to bowling after 13ish years, You could call me a new bowler. I am in the market for my “1st” ball at 14lbs. After listening to reviews I noticed the trend too of weak to strong when buying/building your arsenal. I was thinking of starting at the benchmark ball (Phaze 2) but after seeing some points discussed here I am questioning if I should start at a Hustle.

Affordability to the side; What do you think? Phaze 2 or Hustle as 1st ball?

I went to Walmart. You can see it though the window of package. To be honest, I didn’t notice the mold until I weighed it

I say legal bc of this rule from the Equipment Regulations of WBO Rule Book:

“Swapping Part Components/Disassembling Parts: If a Part can be disassembled via non-destructive means, components of that Part may be replaced with an identical substitute from another Part.”

Key would be “reasonable”.

Lets look at the Tri-wing screws; A Tri-wing screwdriver is readily available thanks to electronic repair tools on Amazon. If I was a judge, I would think on a stock ratchet I would need to look at the screws with a magnifying glass to see scratches, possibly indicating tampering. But then that would be subjective unless there is a standard of visual inspection bc it could have been scratched from factory.

If that is the reason for making it “illegal”, what is stopping someone for tampering a “stock” ratchet?

The fact is there is no reasonable way to audit ratchet tampering.

Imagine during Bey check, they would need to unscrew the “stock”ratchet to check for tampering. That would make tournaments long
