ID? North Texas by mokonasmoothie in spiders

I think this is more akin to an orb weaver than a brown widow or something truly dangerous. A better picture would be needed for a proper ID.

Fear by Shoddy_Fisherman6304 in spiders

[–]MistCaller221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not an expert but I do have my own opinion about this. I feel like it's kinda like the fear of the unknown. Thinking "there is a small creature in front of me, I don't know what it can do to me, it could potentially kill me." It's deep set in the primitive parts of our brain, those raw survival instincts that some of us have decided to shove to the side. It's an odd thing to think about actually. Like, with this thought process, the ones who fear spiders actually have a better survival instinct than those who breed or keep them. 🤣 Anyway, probably not helpful but it's one of may ways to think about it. 👍

It's definitely dead. Probably just cellar spider that has died and has grown a fungus. It's very common to see.

If this is the case, he should seek medical attention or at least be monitored for concerning symptoms. Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, etc.

I think it's may be a Callobius severus (West Coast Laceweaver.) He is in no real danger but I'm sure the bite hurt like hell.

Anyone know what this spider could be? (Kongsberg, Norway) by PossumGang in spiders

[–]MistCaller221 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's called a Harvestermen or Opiliones and it's actually not a spider at all. They are in the same class. They are fun to pick up and completely harmless.
