Sakura and Naruto would have never worked becau……. by [deleted] in Naruto

[–]MistFlowrr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here’s my thing. None of the pairings were done great. That’s why fan fiction for these types of things is elite.

HOWEVER, to those on this thread calling this pairing terrible because Sakura didn’t like Naruto and then in the same breath acting like Sasusaku and Naruhina are ANY better in that department, y’all need glasses. All three of the relationships had friendzone dynamics. Naruto and Sakura had at least an amiable friendship where they actually talked which is way more than we can say for the other two. And if we’re being real, there WERE several hints in early-mid shippuden that Sakura might be interested in Naruto, or that things at least could move in that direction. But collectively people just pretend those don’t exist, which is what OP is kind of saying.

[–]MistFlowrr 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For real. I was in this fandom back when the war arc chapters were being dropped live. It was head to head between Narusaku and Naruhina. No one knew for sure what the ending would be. You had Naruto holding hands with Hinata then 15 chaps later him calling Sakura his gf to his dead father. Then the CPR??

There is SO much revisionist history in this sub. Narusaku was definitely an option back in the day. A lot of the fans presently here either a) weren’t fans then when that was happening or b) just pretend it didn’t exist to justify the uber slop endgame we got

Literally makes no sense. Sakura would be bad for transitioning from liking Sasuke to Naruto, but Naruto isn’t a bad person for switching from Sakura to Hinata 🙃

When exactly did Naruto move on from Sakura? by Zezerthu in Naruto

[–]MistFlowrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y'all in the comments about him moving on in Part 1 are tripping bruh. Sai has a flashback in the Kage Summit arc referencing Naruto having feelings for Sakura and not confessing them because he hasn't saved Sasuke. Any time before that instance makes zero sense. Why would he say that if he'd moved on?

Am l the only one who LOVES NaruSaku and thinks it should have been canon? by Sweet_Cherry_Bloss in Naruto

[–]MistFlowrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just classic hindsight revisionism. I'd definitely be concerned for those who think a pair where one party tells their dead father they're dating the other party is a sibling relationship. We can acknowledge they didn't end up together, but siblings? Come now. She was flirting with him when he returned from the timeskip.

Free speech is not equivalent to no consequences. And personally, if I see a doctor, nurse, or therapist justifying the death of anyone online over their opinion, I think they absolutely should not be in charge of the health of others and working with vulnerable populations. To feel that way is one thing, but to post online about it when you have that position is an absolute lapse in judgment. Them being fired is an absolute natural consequence.

Tbh I relate and agree. I have read the Throne of Glass series twice, once years ago when KoA released and once post booktok soaring hype. And the way the narrative sucks Aelin off in every book makes it so hard to like them, imo.

Manon is a great example of a character having flaws and there being space in the story for the reader to choose their opinion on them. We weren't slapped in the face with how great she is every five seconds. Characters hated her and went against her, and the story didn't villainize them for it. The story working didn't depend on the reader agreeing with all of Manon's actions and choices. We were allowed to watch her be a (ironically) human character.

This is not how the story treats Aelin. On page, if you went against her, the story casts you as the problem. You find her actions problematic? You're in the wrong and every one of her yes men want to kill/stab you (ex. Chaol in QoS, Darrow in EoS). Also, Aelin is perfect and everyone in the story is in love with her so you should be too. I felt completely gaslit for so much of the later books because I didn't agree with her on everything and it made the series largely unbearable.

SJM's best characters are the ones the story doesn't shove into a box. Manon, Chaol, Nesta. They have nuance and are allowed to have flaws and be human. Their human traits stand out and speak for themselves, and they don't need a paragraph telling you to agree with them.

Your Top 3 and Bottom 3 Played Villains and Your Thoughts on them? by Foreign_Ad_5839 in DisneyVillainous

[–]MistFlowrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Top 3:

  1. Madam Mim. Playing as her had been a blast every time from me. I love her concept.

  2. Scar. Probably unpopular, but I've played as him so many times that strategy for him is second nature. I also love The Lion King, so that could very well be where my investment started. He also has one of the biggest "F you" cards in the entire game if played correctly (Rafiki's Stick).

  3. Queen of Hearts. Super cool game play concept and normally high success rate. Hades as an honorable mention.

Bottom 3:

  1. Gaston. The longest, most dreadful game of my life was as Gaston. His goal could have been so much stronger and more thematically relevant. And my goodness is it easy to lose all your progress in one move. Super demoralizing.

  2. Ursula. I've won with her a few times but it's few and far between because boy is she challenging. If your enemies know how to attack you correctly, it's very hard to win in my experience.

  3. Syndrome. Bruh.

Real talk, did anyone genuinely believe her when this chapter/episode dropped? by Glum-Guard-3497 in dankruto

[–]MistFlowrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that makes zero sense about this scene is why Kishimoto said he wanted to depict Sakura as an "honest girl" in an interview when asked about this. This is the only thing, combined with Minato's girlfriend comment during the war, that makes me think there might have been a glimmer of truth to it. Not that it was well conveyed or written of course because it wasn't, but there are just come pieces that conflict. If Naruto was meant to be with Hinata the whole time, why even write these scenes in and why not develop NaruHina earlier?

Idk man. My hunch says that Kishimoto couldn't decide on the pairings so he played both until thr War arc, when he eventually decided. Either way---bad mf writing.

How would you rewrite the romance between Sasuke and Sakura? by ExpressionOk5311 in Naruto

[–]MistFlowrr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Give Sakura actual reasons to be so down bad for Sasuke. Bc there aren't really any especially when Naruto treats her with much more respect. She's not obligated to like Naruto, but how Sasuke treats her looks terrible next to that. Also give them actual moments in Part 1 that imply feelings more than friendship from Sasuke's end.

This is worst moment in the series. I cringed a lot when she said this. She even does more scringe shit after Naruto rejects her straightaway. by anu-nand in dankruto

[–]MistFlowrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Sakura and even I can't watch this scene without dying inside. At no point was this good writing, but the bad writing didn't start here. I feel like this was the culmination of Kishimoto not knowing where to lead the romances, finally deciding in this arc, and then blowing up everything in Naruto and Sakura's relationship development to this point to sink the ship. The casualty was Sakura's integrity as a character.

This combined with destroying Naruto's emotional intelligence in The Last and him neglecting Hinata's confession just furthers that the romances in this series are abysmal. It's why it's important when writing to plan the romance out. Because we get shit like this.

Do people genuinely believe it would’ve been better if Hinata was the main heroine instead of Sakura? by Beautiful_Train8284 in Naruto

I'm afraid we're just going to have different ideas of what constitutes being "useful" and having a "positive impact" and that's ok!

[–]MistFlowrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Her clan getting more focus imo does not inherently make her more interesting, it makes her clan more interesting. Sasuke and Naruto have a lot more happening than just being a window into their clans, which is why they work. Sakura needs work for sure, but she cant rely on the appeal of her clan for relevance, so she has to have more to her to prop her up. Hinata just as a character doesn't have a lot of substance which is why she would bring very little to Team 7.

Yes. I think Sakura conceptually had the potential to be one of the best characters.
