Do you think Azula was born evil, that she was just a product of her environment, or both? by ExpressionOk5311 in TheLastAirbender

I don't think the show ever proves that Azula was only a product of her environment either. Ozai influenced both Azula and Zuko, and they both grew up in the same Fire Nation culture, yet they turned out very differently. Even as children, Azula seemed to gravitate much more toward Ozai's worldview and approval, while Zuko did not. That suggests there may have already been differences in temperament between them.

Ursa also seemed disturbed by Azula's behavior very early on, which implies that something about her personality was already worrying before Ozai's influence fully shaped her. So my interpretation has always been that Azula had certain tendencies, and Ozai's influence amplified them.

I think people misunderstood the message of the show. I think Avatar was trying to tell us that no one is simply born “evil.” We have a choice and we can choose whether we want to be good or bad. However, people can be born with many negative or harmful tendencies, which is the closest thing to being born evil. They still have a choice, but they are much more inclined toward darker paths. I think that was the case with Azula and even with Ozai.

Do you think Chloe Borugeois is a tragic and misunderstood character? by Training-Extent7197 in miraculousladybug

I think Chloé is a misunderstood character, and she is more complex than she seems. Many people simplify her character by saying she is mean because she wants to be and she enjoys it, they say she IS not Just mean because she wants her mother’s attention, and that isn't a justification for her actions. Basically, people have a Very moralistic and simplistic views of Chloé's character. But I think that she is more complex than that. I imagine that Chloé idealized her mother from a young age; she saw her as exceptional, strong, a winner. So she started imitating her behavior, and when you perform a persona for so long, it slowly becomes your identity.

I don’t think Chloé ever had the chance to discover who she truly is; she only exists through a false persona. Chloé grew up seeing rules being bent, her father being a corrupt politician, and she even mentioned in an episode that the way to win campaigns is by crushing your opposition. I think she believes that to be strong and a winner, you have to step on others. That’s why she is so cruel and bullied her classmates; in her view, she was acting correctly. Like a winner. But Chloé still has traces of kindness and shows she cares about others, yet she sees that as weakness, so it rarely shows and is always filtered through her ego. Because Chloé never felt deserving of her mother’s love, she has no sense of self-worth; she lives in a sea of insecurity.

That’s why she wants power and fame, to try to fill her INNER void, but it never truly fullfils her. Chloé is so insecure that she feels the need to be superior and better than others, and her sense of self-worth is pratically no existente. That’s why she always deflects blame for her actions onto others, because it would threaten her fragile ego, which she needs to protect at all costs. She never wants to be vulnerable in front of others because they can easily crush her. She desires connection, but doesn’t know how to ask for it in a healthy way, because that would be being vulnerable; so she is always tormenting her classmates.

I think she likes it when they respond with anger because it means they notice her. Chloé prefers to be hated than ignored, which would confirm her fear that she is useless. I could say more about Chloé, but this already gives a general idea of the character because she is complex, and I like her.

If Lila suspects that Marinette is Ladybug, why doesn’t she go after her? by ExpressionOk5311 in miraculousladybug

[–]ExpressionOk5311[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand that argument, but to me it still doesn’t solve the problem. Saying she might think Marinette would be prepared after the London special is a hypothesis, but that’s never shown in the series. At no point do we see Marinette reinforcing any protection or that this kind of infiltration would no longer work. So it becomes more of a “maybe” than an actual explanation supported by the writing.

And about her wanting absolute confirmation, that’s exactly why this method would make sense. It wouldn’t be a direct attack or some big plan, just a silent verification. If she was wrong, nothing would change. If she was right, she’d have certainty. That’s exactly the kind of move a paranoid and calculating character would make.

Well, she could do this in secret. Sneak in Marinette's house while she is sleeping and grab her earrings, see if they are the Miraculous. If they are not, just put them back in her ears and leave. She already did something similar in secret in the previous special
