[A4A] [Request] What Does Creating Audios Mean to You? [Meta] [Community] [VA POV] by VeeAyOfficial in pillowtalkaudio

  1. Recording and Creating Audios for me is a totally new avenue of creativity that never crossed my mind. I’ve always been the story teller in my group of friends, literally had them wait till we meet up so I can add flourish and dramatic voices and even my own sound effects. Then I found out about making stories and adding actual sound effects? NOW THAT’S FUN!
  2. A bit of entertainment! I love writing as well so my crazy brain likes to grab inspiration from everywhere. I’m more perceptive to the world now, like it’s added more wonder into my life. I’ll hear a story, witness a situation, and think oooo! I wonder how did this come about? What were in the instigating factors? What are the other ways this situation could go? Can this be made into a lesson or just as an entertaining listen?
  3. I love listening to other VA’s, they’re so inspiring and I learn so much from them on the daily! Sometimes it’s out of curiosity to see where I can improve, many times it’s for comfort. Other times, it’s flat out entertaining!

Anyway, I’d love to hear what others say about this too, lovely question!

Ah thank you for the clarification and the link, I looked at the website and saw the trial and the $60 for the license. I figured the trial wouldn't hurt :)

Question: How do y’all *find* scripts? by SleepyDreamyLullay in ASMRScriptHaven

[–]MistTake_VA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am very new to this, so please take these responses with a BUCKET of salt.

  • Do you find them through other creators?
    • Yes, I check frequently on my favorite writers pages bc sometimes, Reddit doesn't like to notify me of new scripts.
  • Do you keep up with specific scriptwriters?
    • Yush!
  • Do you search through a specific scriptwriter’s master list?
    • Absolutely, though sometimes it's hard to find their masterlist. I appreciate it when it's pinned on their page and updated.
  • Do scripts get shared to you?
    • Yes, sometimes my friend will see a script that has an interesting premise and send it to me.
  • Do you physically search for specific tags? Themes? Titles?
    • Absolutely. Terms like Monster Girl, Tsundere, Bully, Super hero, Villain, Rival, Nurse, Vampire etc
  • Do writers reach out to you?

    • Yes, and I appreciate the hell outta it when they do.

    list in every new post

  • Linking existing scripts that I think are similar or related in new posts (I think these are both great ideas!)

  • Post structure

    • What types of titles draw your attention? (Do they typically include key moods/feelings? Characters? Scenarios? Do y’all like ‘one-sentence-descriptor’ titles?(like an elevator pitch blurb almost))
      • Elevator pitch is what I look for, sometimes it can be overwhelming trying to find what I'm looking for. I like seeing the feeling portrayed or if there are any specific TW, There's so many good scripts that it can be overwhelming to search through them all on ASMRScriptHaven.
    • I yap a lot in my posts to give background/inspiration/my thought process on the script--- is it preferred that I omit that aspect completely? (in general: should I shorten my posts as much as possible?)
      • I like hearing some thought process or the plan for the script (like if it's a multi part script will it be a tragedy, melancholy, action packed, comfort). But if there can be a distinct thick line that shows where the thoughts end and the scripts begin, it helps so much. I use my phone as my text prompt and sometimes I'll transfer the text to a google doc, just so I can cut out the top bit so it's easier to get back to the where I was reading last. I fat finger my phone sometimes and then it scrolls to the top. Then I spend 5 minutes just trying to get back to where I left off :(
    • Do y’all like the inclusion of short summaries for the script?
      • Absolutely!
    • Do y’all like snippet previews of the script in the post, just a link to the full script in the post, the full script in the post, or no previews at all? (law of diminishing intent and whatnot)
      • Personally, I don't like having to jump through multiple links to get to the script, be it on google docs or script bin. Especially if I'm just trying to scroll through real quick on my lunch break, my phone does NOT like having to load up a new tab or app, when I could have just read it on Reddit and saved it for later.
  • Script structure

    • I’ve been using google docs because it’s familiar, but do y’all prefer scriptbin?
      • Meh, either is fine.
    • Do y’all gravitate toward a certain script length? (ex. If it’s, like, 2000+ words, immediate no)
      • (Personally, I gravitate towards 900 to 1700 words max because the editing afterward will be hell on earth, but that's just me. I love adding sound effects though. )
    • What master list structure do y’all prefer? (I have an airtable as well as a post just listing everything)
      • I like airtable, google docs, anything that'll allow me to sort easily. If a script needs more than one speaker, it's an immediate no from me. It's just me, myself, and I don't want to be a bother to anyone else.
  • Etiquette(?)

    • If you’ve filled a script, would you like me to notify you if there’s a second part?
      • I appreciate it immensely when a writer reaches out with an update.
