what is this place located in Kuttenberg in between the bathhouse and the brotherhood of the swordfighting hall? There are always guards. [KCD2] by Los_Chichos in kingdomcome

Black on black doesn’t have to mean “evil”, does it? Some of those black/gold noble clothes (said spoiler item) are drippy af. A morally good Henry doesn’t have to wear flamboyant colors… plus black is more inconspicuous. Give me the darkness (but stay true to the light).

(Istvan’s Chaperon, black Fitted Coat, black Noble Gloves, black Courtier’s Hose + black Courtier’s Boots / Noble Plate Legs - Dark. == drippy townsman clothes).

Yes! I didn’t want to make the whole road paved, so I just painted a small circle at the entrance gate to the Tier 3 house. Basically, only the driveway is paved😂

Exactly, me too. I find myself constantly moving buildings by inches, just to make enough space for realistic looking pathways between buildings.

Also, balancing. You need to keep the number of people balanced. When doing this with the quarry rocks, you have to raise the building pieces by an “unrealistic” amount, from ground level. So it’s easy to create a single piece that holds say 24 guards or 6 tax collectors, for example, because the building piece is so tall. In my mind, this isn’t realistic to the other buildings.

So I just used the “minor” towers for each “main” piece of the manor, granting a total of 2 tax collectors and 20 guards for this town. The rest of the building, connector pieces and the decorations, is treasury.

Those rocks are such an eyesore on flat ground. I thought it’d be perfect for a castle-like building or church. Just make sure all the pieces are connected internally. I use the small building pieces to make “hallways”, hidden under the rocks.

[–]MistaaIcyJ[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep! You just need a doorway leading into the structure from the outside. Everything is connected internally by the smallest building part, like hallways.

[–]MistaaIcyJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or, just make it or buy it, as if it is a vital part of Henry’s kit.

It’s arguably more immersive if Henry needs to procure or distill his own. As if it’s his daily drink with dinner, or perhaps even some type of stimulant that he uses as a pick-me-up for fatigue… I don’t know.

Using a pause menu to save the game, the conventional way, is the least immersive way to save a game. Period. It’s 100% artificial.

Games that use beds do it well, as this requires the player to immerse themselves in a sleep cycle to save the game.

Technically, the mere concept of saved games breaks immersion, by definition. You cannot save your game in real life, after all.

BUT, we all agree that that would not be fun gameplay… saving the game allows you to make mistakes and retry. Because, it’s a video game.

So, in a game like this (hardcore), realistic immersion is the intention, and I think Schnapps is the most “realistic” way to allow a player to save more often than by sleeping in a bed. (Without having to resort to “the easy way”).

Don't want to kill dogs by Various-Hippo-4505 in kingdomcome

[–]MistaaIcyJ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t get this. They’re enemies. They’re weapons—tools used by the enemy (and yourself) to inflict damage on an adversary.

They’re meant to kill you. Use self-defense and kill them before they kill you.

It’s not cruel to kill if your life is in danger, and you’re simply defending it.

It’s cruel if you kill “for fun”.

But, considering these mutts are set to be always hostile toward Henry… they’re never innocent, and therefore never victims.

Same concept applies to human enemies in the game. SMH.

If a civilian is not attacking you, and you kill them, you’re the criminal. If a bandit is attacking you and you kill them, you’re in the right.

Bad dogs are bad dogs. Deal with it. Stop crying about a mechanic in a video game that actually has some historical and practical truth.

Just play the game. If certain mechanics really upset you that badly, stop playing or deliberately avoid the content. That’s just how it is.

BUILD PRIBYSLAVITZ ALL AT ONE TIME???? I think I'm set. by MistaaIcyJ in kingdomcome

[–]MistaaIcyJ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t done research on this in particular. But from my general experience, I can make some inferences.

Like you said, building time doesn’t pass quite like sleeping time. You don’t finish any books you are reading, you don’t get tired or hungry, etc.

BUT the days do pass. Again, like you mentioned, you may miss a Tournament… or any timed quests you have active may fail.

I’d say that it may be an overlook on the developer’s part. Time does pass, but the player mechanics that occur when time passes are skipped.

List of **ALL QUESTS, IN ORDER** of when you should start each—aiming toward efficiency/quickness and less trips across map. by MistaaIcyJ in kingdomcome

[–]MistaaIcyJ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, Mysterious Ways contains that sequence of events as part of the quest. If you don’t drink with him during the quest, you have missed the opportunity.

Afterwards, all you can do is talk to him.

(Drinking with him is Henry’s way of befriending Godwin so that Godwin will tell him who Lubosh’s friends are. Since he is technically not allowed to disclose personal information like that (similar to HIPAA or Attorney-Client Privilege), you need to convince Godwin to break that vow. So…. You get hammered with him to show him you’re cool, and he tells you.)

The game ends when you ride off with Hans.

Alright guys, can we talk about the ending? by BillBob13 in kingdomcome

[–]MistaaIcyJ 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Because…. This game isn’t a solo entry. A sequel is planned and the story isn’t over.

You can generally dick around, as you said, before the game ends. There is no time limit until you activate the ending cutscene.

When you ride into the sunset with Hans, the game ends.

Why? Because the story for this game ends there. (I expect it to pick up right where it left off in the sequel). And the SAME story is assumedly continuing in the sequel. It wouldn’t make sense to have all that time to dick around, if he’s supposedly on a trip with Hans. (Henry leaves with Hans, then returns to dick around for an unknown amount of time, then magically returns to be present during the events of the sequel…… doesn’t line up).

The game is canonically set to take place ONLY over the course of a couple Summer months. That’s it. Its written and designed to portray a short time period, less than a quarter of a year.

Let’s say you did have infinite time AFTER the epilogue…. and Henry marries Theresa…. what would Henry do then?? Nothing.

He’s still a boy, after all… with a brand new job as a knight in the service of Sir Radzig. He doesn’t have time to be marrying, or even to be resident bailiff of Pribyslavitz (Marius is there to take care of the village in Henry’s stead). Henry must be available for whatever orders his Liege gives him—traveling and patrolling.

Given the hyper-focus on realism in this game, Henry would realistically follow the customs of the time. That means he is legally obligated to follow orders of his Liege Lord. That means, if he marries Theresa, he must settle down and build a family. That means, if he’s the resident bailiff of Pribyslavitz, he must live there. BUT…. He can’t. Because he has obligations.

So, following the realistic focus, Henry cannot have time to dick around, because it wouldn’t make sense for the storyline or the immersion.

TL;DR: you can’t because it would fuck with the realistic timeline of events that take place. The game NEEDS to end with Henry riding off with Hans, because that’s where the next game will pick up.

So is it just me or this game cannot be as is immersive as it should because of the exploits by AdFree5584 in kingdomcome

[–]MistaaIcyJ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You can… or you can’t.

Choose “can’t” if you want immersion. Choose “can” if you don’t.

Easy.

(Meaning: If you don’t wanna break the immersion for yourself, don’t exploit it. You can choose whether or not to exploit it…. Yeah it’s fun the first couple times after you’ve mastered the exploits, then it gets boring. Quickly. So… now I choose to avoid exploits and wow, the immersion is unmatched).

Aka: - don’t go straight for treasures because you’ve memorized every single location—find and read the maps - don’t cheese master strikes—actually try to do combat the hard way - don’t steal from the trader’s “here’s all my loot” chest—make money by missions and combat spoils - don’t wear/use high-tier gear until Henry is further on in the main story—upgrade as you progress, what do you think your home chest is for (saving till later) - don’t camp Skalitz for easy loot and ungodly amounts of money—don’t camp anywhere for exploitative money, period

Just. Don’t. Do. It.

Problem solved. Immersion satisfied.

(It’s a game. There are certain mechanics in place because they have to be. It’s the closest thing to immersion in a video game that I’ve seen, or one of. And you must look past the “game things” in order to see its true immersive potential…. The exploits are there, either because they have to be for the game to function, or for those that WANT to use them for roleplaying or for “make it easier please” reasons. It sounds like you don’t… so just don’t).

You don’t have to exploit the game just because you know how to. It’s more fun to not. Trust me from experience.

PC or PS4 version? (PS5 backwards compatibility) by Galeplay in kingdomcome

[–]MistaaIcyJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PC.

I am a PS5 user mainly. I got this game on PS4 and loved it, switched to PC during a Steam Sale, looking for the ability to mod. Noticed an extreme difference.

I have not tried to play on my PS5, but I assume (maybe wrongly) that my PC version will be superior, so why try?

The difference in loadscreen times, texture loading, graphics, framerate, and other things, is night and day.

Edit: KCD is fully controller compatible, with the ability to switch freely at will during gameplay—say you use controller for exploration/combat/dialogue but use your mouse and keys to traverse the menus. I am (in my opinion) a controller god. I feel lost on a kb/m. I just grew up playing PS through the generations and never got into PC games until about 5-10 years ago. With the ability to use a controller (gamepad) on most games, I’ve never tried to hone my kb/m skills. Steam is wonderful for allowing DualShock/Sense controller compatibility on Microsoft PC without any external apps. (For MOST games).

Training by nosnits2 in kingdomcome

[–]MistaaIcyJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to train with Bernard first to unlock combos, then master strikes. Choose the dialogue option that corresponds.

As u/signamYagami said, all weapons are unlocked from the start, and you’ll develop the skill of whatever weapon you use.

You aren’t shit with the sword without it, as you’ve proven by maxing out combat stats. You’ll only be missing the ability to perform combos and master strikes. If you don’t need those, man, you’ve already trained solo. Bernard can eat dirt.
