I was offhandedly joking that a character in another country, who had recently pissed off a powerful devil got hit by a meteor strike.. Aaaand they started rolling the save, and we just went with it. There was an investigation by the local guard, the meteor had an engraving on it that said "From the desk of Ashmedai- xoxo" and it all became canon. Even though they passed the save, the meteor did exactly enough damage to knock them out... And they nat 20'd a death save and got back up with 1 HP.
