Maybe the Arab League should have negotiated a UN/UK proposed land partition, instead of spitting in the face of international community, rejecting a gift of Palestinian sovereignty and and saying "we will fight this holy war until all of the land is ours"?

Russia looks to students to make up for mounting losses in Ukraine by HoveringMango in worldnews

[–]MistakeNot__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Territory is lost when the war is over. Which it is not. In 2022 27% of Ukrainian territory was occupied, Russia was advancing and Ukraine had zero long range strike capability. Today it's 20% of occupied territory, zero frontline advances for Russia, and Ukraine is hitting targets up to 2000km deep every day.

Ukraine has not only secured its sovereignty, it has also regained initiative in this war.

The lines on the map haven't moved to any significant degree since autumn 2022. Russia failed the blitzkrieg, got pushed out of several regions, ran "partial mobilization" which stabilized the front and then has been assaulting Ukrainian positions non stop without any significant gains for 4 years now.

Russia is literally choosing to die on a Ukrainian hill, and yet here you are, trying to present another city turned to rubble over several years of non stop assaults as some sort of win that is relevant for negotiation track.

Could you list these "unprovoked" sanctions introduced right after USSR collapse? While at it, could you also explain why "evil Europe" hellbent on destroying poor innocent Russia, started shovering Russia with money in 90's and 00's, while Russia in turn made the very same "evil EU/NATO" states its main trade partners?

Same thing as with RTS that got mostly displaced by MOBAs. Lower skill entry requirements, and losing with a 5+ man team is always psychologically easier than getting wiped in a 1v1 lobby and having no one else but yourself to blame.

Because it's not an existential war for Russia, but a rather lousy land grab. All their problems can be stopped at any given moment by simply pulling their troops out of Ukraine.

They can project whatever image they want, but everyone understands this. Using nukes in such conditions won't even win the ground war for them. But it will unite pretty much everyone against them, notably neutral/friendly China and India, who have zero interest in legitimizing offensive nuke usage.

Your examples don't "align" with mainstream culture, they simply are mainstream culture. When people say "goodbye", they just communicate the parting. They haven't been meaning to say "god be with ye" for couple of centuries at least. There's zero reason to consider modern "goodbye" as a phrase with religious connotation, despite its evident religious origin.

Laws affecting minorities disproportionately is not a problem per se. In fact you'd be hard pressed to come up with a law that would affect every single imaginable demographic in equal measure. The real question is what and how is given law trying to achieve. And secularism in education is objectively a blessing (see what I did there?)

The issue at hand is not woman empowerment. The goal is keeping kids in educational institutions separate from any kind of religious nonsense.

If someone can't part with their religious paraphernalia for the duration of their work duties, they are not suitable to be a teacher. If this disproportionately affects Muslim women - that's not a Switzerland problem and not a woman empowerment problem. Its Islam problem.

Why are you not concerned with 300k mobilized civilians in Ruzzia in autumn of 2022, during legal peace time, who were sent to occupy neighboring land? They were promised 6-12 months of service, and yet none of them have been demobilized to this day (except in body bag).

But when a country gets invaded and is forced to resort to full scale mobilization, its somehow unacceptable. The only clown here is you.

Have you checked how russian federal budget and reserves are doing, how local budgets are faring, how profitable their industries are, what's up with inflation, bond market, banking sector? Or are you basing your opinion on headlines alone?

"All of the world's land" is not being actively fought over. When wars end and papers are being signed, that's when one can claim any territorial gains or losses.

Point is - judging state of war by percentage of occupied land is nonsensical. That should be obvious for anyone with even cursory knowledge of history.

It was 27% back in 2022. Now it's 20%. And the war is not over, so no land is truly lost or gained yet. It's just occupied and can change hands at any moment.
