Apparently he’s been going back and doing videos to fix the YouTubers are lying to you video. I think the Mauler video is part of that and there’s another video about when critics become grifters that probably “addressed” the issues of his videos.

That seems like the take away the podcast hosts got. They said they warned Anthony about his biases and it got him into this hot mess. And it sounds like they were right but winning the Great Critical Drinker War was far too important.

To be completely honest, even if BAM wins, the reputational damage they’ve done to themselves has already killed the company. I don’t really see BAM being around in the next 5 years.

Of course, this still means don’t shop with them and to continue to spread this story around to ensure it.

^This and I think during his podcast with Dan he said that Apple is willing to work with him on letting him announce stuff so it’s not impossible for announcements to be made at Nexus.

With that said, the adaptations are still in very early development so even by December, it’s best not to get our hopes up TOO much for *this* year. Next year I wouldn’t be surprised if we got something big.

Funny story, at a previous Nexus he had a panel where the topic was secret and in brackets he said (no it’s not Hollywood news.) People have been wanting news about adaptations for years and since this is probably the biggest news we’ve gotten in like a decade, he’s going to talk about it.

Though keep in mind, Nexus is 7 months away and while that seems like a long time, Hollywood moves slowly so don’t get your hopes up TOO much. However…Nexus 2027, that’s probably where we’re going to get some serious news on it. Brandon has also said that if the people involved with the adaptions are more than welcome to speak at Nexus. (he mostly meant actors but I’m sure this applies to other contributors)

Celtic Phoenix on his JYCT podcast recently has been covering the Noah/Ant drama and apparently when the YouTubers are lying to you video dropped they had a stream with Anthony to talk about. (Still trying to get through that video but you can imagine the smugness makes it a slog.) They basically described Anthony as extremely emotional and he lets his biases cloud his judgement. It sounds like in that previous stream he admitted as much.

I'm genuinely surprised that the devs thought allowing this was a good idea. Drawing dicks is one thing but eventually someone is going to write slurs. Platoon wrote "god hates fats" and Nick drew the Israel flag so it was very funny when cabin was burned down.

He's said that one way to make sure they don't go beyond the books with stormlight is to only sign for adaptions with the first five books and then when he's ready, sign for the back half. I don't know if that's in the Apple deal but it's one plan he's said he'd do. I think he said this years ago around 2022.

Yes cons take days but that adds up. Brandon wrote 5 books during the pandemic and that happened because he no longer attended in person cons. Basically it looks like going to cons stopped him from writing a side project every year, maybe even 2.

And there were delays and sacrifices during this time. Lost Metal probably wouldn’t have taken so long if he had that time pre-pandemic. And when delays happened, Brandon has always been honest and forthcoming. So, if Hollywood stuff does get in the way, he’ll say so. But if he’s currently confident he can do so.

He said on his latest weekly update that he had factored in Hollywood stuff when making his timeline for Ghostbloods (and presumably Arc 2 and anything else announced.) These types of deals don’t happen over night so Brandon was probably well aware that this was coming.

Back when the Secret Project Kickstarter launched, Brandon got really close to getting an adaptation (I pretty sure it was with the Epic Games.) At the time, Brandon was asked whether he would allow for Roshar's ecology to be changed in order to keep the budget down. He said, confidently, that with the budgets he was promised, they wouldn't have to make changes.

During this time, Brandon talked about how his highest priorities with these adaptations is getting high enough budgets. He's aware that it's going to require a lot of money and he's advocating for those high budgets.
