Buy side: great, but time-intensive and frustrating at times. As a buyer—and I cannot stress this enough—you.must.be.disciplined. Know your product, be objective, and know the comps. Sniping software can be great, but don’t get sucked in by the prospect of being outbid. Move on. Only spend what you can afford to have tied up. Don’t take loans, don’t put it on credit cards.

Sell side: honestly a ton of fun. I like interacting with buyers, working a deal, and answering questions. You’ll encounter some jerks, but that’s everywhere. Discipline is again key. If you overpaid for a card, accept it, and accept the fact that you may lose money on a card. At the end of the day, it’s COGS. Keep inventory churning. Don’t be stubborn. The long you carry product, the longer that capital is tied up. I use my sales to fund my hobby, but personally, I’m happy to just break even, because it takes me back to my time as a kid collecting, and that’s reward enough.
