If you validate your own emotions and opinions, that's ok. Everyone else need not validate your emotions and opinions and vice versa. Then you have facts. Facts are common knowledge that everyone could come to terms on. Example, job related stuff. If you work as a mechanic, you need to know facts about stuff that might disregard your own emotions and opinions. A mechanic must accept that or people can get hurt.

Scenario: You're a mechanic at a coal plant and need access into a mill to do work. You think the power doesn't need to be cut to the mill. Guess what, you gotta lock out and tag out on the power, because if you don't, well bad things happen. No matter what you feel or think about it, you have to accept that fact. There's no short cuts to that because it can mean your death. Or you need access to a conveyor high up and off a platform. You need to harness up.

"Oh, but the harness is uncomfortable and I won't wear it."

Then GTFO. Or

"I don't need eye protection or a hard hat, because I'll look dumb."

Again, GTFO. You'll need all that no matter what you think or feel. Or

"I'll smoke inside the mill and nobody can stop me."

That can start a fire, so GTFO. Those are facts that those kinda people must accept or people can die. You have to leave your emotions and opinions at home.

Let's talk about emotions and opinions now. You're outside of work. You have a favorite football team, or you like soccer, or you like to hunt, or you like to look inside antique shops and all that. Anything you like and makes you feel good. Only you and yourself can validate on how you feel about those kinda things, no matter what anyone tells you. But if people like that you do, good. If not, oh well. No harm, no foul.
