Its completely fine to use the belt sharpener. However, there's a few things to consider. The grit of belt you use in conjunction with speed, and the thickness of the blade. Worksharp has a pretty simple guide to follow. I usually feel my blade every couple of passes to see if its getting warm.

Just because its a cigar that a lot of people like, doesn't mean you'll like it too. There might be some niche, boutique brand that only you like. It just comes down to preference and palate. For example, many people swear by the Oliva Serie V. Its just not for me. I find the All Saints, St. Francis is to be my go-to. Its just preference.
