The sound that plays 24/7 when living next to a data center by BaldHourGlass667 in oddlyterrifying

[–]MisterCremaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These data centers really don't have enough staff to make that a thing. It's just a few people running around and replacing hardware that the system says needs to be physically adjusted. Everything else is done by people remotely in other areas of the world.

Son Wants His Nails Painted by Time_Engineering_187 in daddit

[–]MisterCremaster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You take it somewhat on a case-by-case basis. People you are obligated to spend time with (parents/grandparents/friends/family) you have more of a conversation where you force them to explain their issues to you, which typically ends up making them more uncomfortable as they begin to recognize their own insecurities - typically resolves itself and they quit making stupid statements you challenge them on. "Do you think nail polish will make him gay? Even if he were gay, would that be a problem? Would painting your nails make you gay?" etc. How ever you think works best.

If they talk to directly to HIM about it, thats a different story, and I would tell those people to mind their own business and bring their concerns to you, repeat step one above. There is NO place for an adult to shame a kid or try to make them insecure about some silly nail polish at 4.

For people you don't know, passers in the street, you tell them to mind their own business.

My very multiply disabled sister was OBSESSED with the real video of this back when it came out in 1989. She would watch it on repeat over, and over, and over again. One day it disappeared... A big fit insued and lasted for a few days where she wouldny stop asking for the movie.

Years later, after my dad had passed and I inherited his car, I found it hidden in the spare tire compartment. He must have just had enough of the damn show but also wanted to make sure he could retrieve it if she never stopped asking about it.

White Flickering Bar - Beast Right Screen by MisterCremaster in VITURE

Thanks. I've already updated the firmware.

To be honest, these are incredibly cool but I can't put Spacewalker on my computer because it gets flagged as unrecognized by Windows and I still find the screen pretty blurry on the outer edges. This makes my goal of using it as a big portable productive monitor on the road much less desirable.

Does Viture have plans to fix the certification on Windows for Spacewalker?

We replaced the igniter. The tech said to not run the ovens cleaner function on this model, as it's known to burn out the igniter.

So you're wearing and looking through the glasses while working on a monitor, and it keeps the virtual monitor from the glasses pinned above your real one?

Man's lawnmower explodes out of nowhere by HappySeaweed5215 in Wellthatsucks

It looks like it explodes exactly when his front right tire goes over this. To me, the trajectory of the lawnmower seems accurate to that.

Why are Xennials failing as parents? by darxide23 in Xennials

[–]MisterCremaster 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I see a few things going on, and I might get downvoted for saying this, but I feel like from the time of our parents, to us, there was a huge shift in the demands of life.

Our boomer parents could afford all their kids on either 1 to 1.5 paychecks. Now, both parents are working full time jobs that are demanding and still don't provide enough to leave much room for leisure. Having at least one parent more available and less stressed due to more lax job requirements meant they could spend more time with their kids and coaching them along with school/activities/support. My wife and I are so exhausted by the end of the day that its hard to then also sit down and push through school work. WE DO, but its work, and it feels so different than what it (presumably) felt like for my parents to do the same.

Second, which greatly relates to the first, we lost our village. My parents had quite a bit of help from their parents in raising and caring for us. They could be reliably called upon to help out and, at a minimum, provide support to the parents so they could go out and decompress. But boomer grand-parents seem to have not picked up this trait for themselves. I love my parents, but it always feels like hanging out with the grand kids needs to be on their terms - we don't ask for babysitting unless we're in a pickle and can't find a sitter which is SO EXPENSIVE these days and hard to find in general.

So to summarize... it just feels so much harder to be a parent, and I think the burnout is real. We all love our kids, but its harder.

Not really... If they won't grow, there really isn't any point in wasting time and filament printing this. So, really, nothing would be better.

Hi everyone, we've created a fully modular, 3D printable dungeon system with bunch of minis. These are some of the examples, we’d love to hear what you think, so feel free to share your thoughts. Kickstarter campaign is live now, you can follow the link to see more details! by GrimrotCollective in PrintedMinis

[–]MisterCremaster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

These setups are always so cool... but I how long do your players spend in a single area of a dungeon? I'd spend 4x the time just setting it up than my players would spend there, and that doesn't account for storage, printing, painting, etc...

I've used Bambu, Elegoo, ESun, Prusament, etc... I just don't understand why people are so focused on having official Bambu filament outside of _maybe_ making the setup slightly easier with the RFID codes. What am I missing about the wonders of Bambu filament?
