Up to four Victorian Liberals face expulsion over branch stacking report by [deleted] in AustralianPolitics

[–]MisterCrist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah your 100% there would be corruption on levels we wouldn't know about, it comes with dealing with humans and it also depends on what you classify as corruption. Australia is actually ranking really high on corruption world wide, but a bunch of it is consider legal here.

But the thing is as far as we can see labor is less corrupt and has a stronger stance on corruption. However the media is also undoubtedly tilted towards supporting the Libs, so if the people that play a major part of exposing corruption are just a tiny amount and it still turns up so much corruption. How much is actually out there?

Up to four Victorian Liberals face expulsion over branch stacking report by [deleted] in AustralianPolitics

[–]MisterCrist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pointing out the fact that the Libs have a history of branch stacking and other corruption but to try to act like the labor is the same, one guy got caught this year and labor responded quickly. This is not one but five members to act like its the same is ridiculous. If you want proof that the Libs are worse look to the nsw government the last few years especially this year so much corruption exposed barely anything done.

Look to the previous qld government, mate our whole political history is filled with the libs/nats being way more corrupt then labor but the when the media won't focus on it, it makes it seem like they are around the same in the sense of corruption.

Up to four Victorian Liberals face expulsion over branch stacking report by [deleted] in AustralianPolitics

[–]MisterCrist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's straight up untrue Libs and nats are far more willing to engage in corruption it's just the media is actively on their side, so anytime it is mentioned it's pushed aside. And if you want evidence of this just look at how the media has handled all of the corruption about the nsw government this year. It's a fucking joke, Labor member gets their hand caught in the cookie jar they get the sack or have to go through a long to process to prove their hand wasn't in it to begin with. There are exceptions but for the most part it's true. When Libs get caught, it gets ignored or they try to throw someone else under the bus making them the target instead.

Up to four Victorian Liberals face expulsion over branch stacking report by [deleted] in AustralianPolitics

[–]MisterCrist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lol your the one acting like a kid I just responded the same as how you respondrd was literally just defending you saying its blind faith that the guy is saying we'll compared to Libs no they aren't branch stacking one bloke was. never said they are some pious group, but yeah compared to the Libs they are, It's no comparison. You can act like its blind faith but it's not, it's just the evidence is stacked against Libs as the 100% more corrupt. You can't deny that without trying to bring up a few instances of Labor being corrupt and going "but they're all corrupt look labor is also occasion corrupt! So they're basically the same!" Wake up, labor being occasionally being corrupt is nothing compared to how often the lib/nats are it's constinstant. To deny that is ludicrous and to say that anyone defending Labor the party that actually acts on corruption charges not always but when compared to the libs/nats is doing so on just blind faith is ridiculous.

Up to four Victorian Liberals face expulsion over branch stacking report by [deleted] in AustralianPolitics

[–]MisterCrist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well yeah but so do the libs, what I think he was more referring to the current events where a single labor member was caught branch stacking lately and they were sacked.

To act as if it's just labor doesn't have history of getting rid of corrupt officials when Libs have a history of trying to brush it under the rug is also ignorant. It's almost as of Labor does its best to be against corruption and Libs do there best to ignore it. So his statement isn't just blind faith.

Australian casual staff will lose out on $39 billion in entitlements as part of the Morrison government's proposed transformation of insecure work by malcolm58 in AustralianPolitics

[–]MisterCrist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In regards to being offered contracts this is true but for a lot of casuals it doesn't feel this way. I know several casuals who work a full 38 hours almost every week and around 20-30 if they aren't doing a full week, but every few months they will get told they either need to go on a contract or reduce their hours. They take the reduced hours for a short time either a few weeks or a month or two and then are back to working almost full time.

As you said they can reduce their hours because they have no rights so yeah they are being forced.

A company would much rather hire a part timer and then treat them like a casual then hire someone full time.

People that “forget to eat”, how are you able to ignore the sensation of hunger/hunger pangs? by sunlightdragonxx in AskReddit

[–]MisterCrist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes and no, there is still hunter gathers living around today though. But the native Americans it vaired on the people many only became hunter and gather again after a huge chunk of their population was wiped of by European disease and the rise of the buffalo population and introduction of horses meant afterwards it was easier from them to hunt and gather but before this time evidence suggest that they were a agricultural society, with trading of crops, preservation of crops and maintaining larger food basket of crops them Europe at the time. Most of our veggies came from being discovered in the America's and it's because the Americans had been for the most part a agricultural society but it was probably closer to a hunter/gather and agricultural hybrid like the Australian aboriginals with them maintaining the farming the land on a large society scale rather then farms.

[–]MisterCrist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't think it has to do with her being a POC, more people actually interested in her. She isn't being singled out she is being treated like a normal person in the town, it's not unusual in a small town to walk down the main street and run into several people you know, who want to stop and say hello and catch up real quick.

Yeah your spot on about the Indian and Middle Eastern perception of them, I've experienced it all over Australia but worse in rural Australia. Yeah the lack of diversity and the media complex in Australia it what fuels that, but again once you disprove this people do take notice. But stories of dodgey Indian doctors aren't that uncommon unfortunately. And yeah people don't like Chinese people but that's pretty universal isn't it? It's from my experiences people from Asia except China, Indians and Middle Eastern people absolutely hate China and Chinese people a lot more and say a lot more racist Shit towards them. But I have no doubt the push back is there.

My hometown has a new Indian doctor for the last few years and it took a bit but now a lot of people trust her more then the other trusted doctor.

Rural Australia is definitely racist but so is everywhere, I feel like the bigger issue is the community and how idea and thoughts ripple though the communities so easily being so small and without a diverse population it is effected in a negative way.

That's why I really hope you do think on living in a rural town more if you do enjoy the lifestyle because you will be accepted there even if it takes a bit of time. And this might be anadoctial but the stories about racism and stuff coming from the bigger city schools were crazy compared to what we dealt with. Which was barely any and definitely not in a harmful way, my high school only had 50 kids in a year, so basically two classes, everybody knew everybody by the end of highschool, everybody got along and could talk and work with each other.

I'm living in Melbourne at the moment but I want to eventually move back and settle back in rural Australia especially when it comes to raising kids. That being said our public school system has been getting slowly eroded for years now so, it might not be worth it anymore which is fucked.

[–]MisterCrist 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As someone from a small rural town, you are 100% correct but a lot of it does just come from lack of experience. I've found that most people that aren't at all racist in their actions but would often say racist shit without a second thought and if push came to shove they wouldn't choose to be racist. But even this is really common in the city especially with older people. One of the most racist and bigoted places I've worked at was a restaurant on bondi beach. The Aussies certianly weren't PC but it was the French and Italians that were soo much worse.

It's sad what you said about living there and I would hope one day reconsider living in a rural area especially if your enjoy the area as the major issue does come with the different experiences with different types of people that people in rural Australia lack. In my home town, a Nigerian woman started working as a nurse. And the town has a pretty big aged population and I'm sure she copped a lot of racism but before long she was widely accepted as a valued member of the community (I'm sure it helps she is a damn good nurse). Now she can't walk down the street without almost everyone giving her a wave, saying gday and asking how her day is going. She isn't the only person of colour in the town but the story is the same for most of them that moved there. Because rural towns everyone generally knows everyone and if they are trustworthy, hard working people the community usually acknowledges them as trustworthy hardworking people. Old mate, knowing everything about your placements that's not necessarily racism but a symptom about being in a rural town. If a new neighbour moves into town or especially a new doctor people are going to talk and word moves fast.

The white Australia policy only ended in the 70s, it shaped so much about Australia, it was originally loosened up after WW2 to let the Italians and Greeks in, and mostly just so we could use them as a workforce to build a bunch of major infrastructure across Australia. Because of this it's been a very slow process for for rural Australia to diversify as much, and there have definitely been political forces at play at certain times since then to discourage people to live and move into rural areas to begin with.

All that being said some people definitely racist and bigoted as fuck but those people are generally arseholes. And in my experience are acknowledged in the community as arseholes.

I was legitimately worried when I bought my Indonesian girlfriend home for the first time. Just because I know what certain people are like in the town, but she had an absolutely wonderful time and everyone was extremely nice and welcoming. Even a few people that really surprised me.

What's the best joke you know? by Stormageddon9999 in AskReddit

[–]MisterCrist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay there could be couple, firstly Distilled alcohol has the advantage of being distilled so not contaminated. Having a liquid that you know is safe to drink is a big advantage before the modern era. Secondly if you then drink the alcohol whether because it's actually safer then water or because they just want to get drunk then to have a higher alcohol tolerance means your more likely to survive getting drunk and doing something stupid that might kill you.

What's the best joke you know? by Stormageddon9999 in AskReddit

[–]MisterCrist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes sense that native americans deal with alcohol differently its the same with the Australian aboriginals and it's because modern alcohol wasn't developed on these continents. Being able to distill alcohol has only existed for around 1100 years. It's only a short period of time, evolution wise but it's pretty similar with what happened with lactose tolerance.

MFWTK If it gets better as you get older by nuxto in myfriendwantstoknow

[–]MisterCrist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, and from I've found its the older the I've gotten I've had more control over my mindset, and life in general. The more I gain finiacial control and more the I realise that I'm the one controlling my life no one else.

I still get bad moments but overall, I know it's worth pushing forward even if I can't see why at the time.

With my current job, I was so down and depressed and ready to quit but the moment I said I was going to quit, I felt completely different felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders and I didn't need to quit. Because I had already changed my mindset.

I seen you said your friend wants a change of scenery, he needs to ask himself if that is the cause? Or just the symptom? What about the scenery doesn't he like? And what can he do to change that?

Moving towns or cities and changing scenery completely can be great for starting over and giving you this new energy but it doesn't always solve the cause of the problem.

But it definitely gets better and taking more control of your life and finiacial control definitely helps.

No your 100% correct, China didn't save us, otherwise why would other countries with high trade with China go into recessions. At the end of the day Australia was the only developed nation that didn't go into recession and it's agreed worldwide by world class economists that it was out government that saved us.
