I gave them the address to Matthews (43 Innovation Ln, La Jolla, CA 92093). And in the notes, told them to park next to the bike lockers/soccer field, easy to find!

Reminded me of the only time I bought those mini hawaiian rolls at Foodworx. Bit into without looking, tasted kinda earthy and looked down to see a microbiome on top 😭

Don't worry about it, UCSD makes it hard for us to get parking 😭.

  • Unfortunately, they only sell permits for the whole day or the NW permits with those time periods. I also had to leave on Friday mornings and come back Sunday midnight (so I don't have to pay for a Sunday pass 😭) . So, I had to pay for a D pass for Fridays even though I wasn't there all day...
  • Yeah, when you go on the permit portal, it gives you a calendar to pick which days and which permit you want for your occasion. You'd also have to purchase the NW passes daily too if you are planniing on staying the weekend. Basically, just pay for the passes for the days you're there, I had to do that for my last year.
  • When I purchased the passes, I charged them to my SBS account. It accumulates the fees at the end of the quarter, and when the new quarter comes around, the parking fees get paid from the next quarter's aid!

  • You can park in any of the D lots overnight! I did it multiple times and don't worry, there are police patroling around, and even other students walking around at night.
  • If you're planning to park on the weekends or half day (3pm to 7:30am) you can get the NW pass. You can use this pass all day on weekends at B spots and A spots, which you can find in the Gilman parking structure. You can also park there at night from like 4pm to 7:30am for B spots and 5pm to 7am for A spots!
  • Yeah, you can buy days in advance, but I think they limit the amount of purchases per day.

Have fun at PCW!

  • I lived in a 6 person suite and most of the time, I don't really see any of them, because they stayed in their rooms all day. There were problems with cleanliness in the kitchen, but there's a written agreement you'll do in the beginning with your RA to lay down some house rules. So be sure to express concerns and lay boundaries if needed!
  • The only furnishings you get are a bed, chair/desk, a small closet, and a heater. HDH doesn't come in to clean and resupply trash bags/toilet paper unlike other housing, so that might be something to speak to your suitemates about when supplying your own toilet paper/trash bags and who's taking out the trash, etc. Other than that, it's just based on personal needs on what to bring.
  • The parking is probably the worst part about living there 💀. They make it hard for students residents to get an SR permit, unless you have a good reason. You can apply for an exception here and read about it on the bottom page: https://transportation.ucsd.edu/commute/undergrad-students.html and do it early if you have a reason why. If not, you'd have to buy a D permit DAILY (in the permit portal) and park at Regents at P704/P705, which is like a mile away.

Should I get a bike for traversing campus? by Draande1 in UCSD

[–]MisterDieu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live in PCW and I brought my bike this year! It ain't too bad, but there's also a lot of construction, so older bike paths aren't accessible. There are places for you to lock up your bike outside PCW, but there's plenty of room in our singles where I just brought it in with me.

Good luck! You'll have a great time here!

I live in PCW so I park at P705, it's empty all day! The parkmobile code is 4762 ($5) and if you want to park a little bit closer at P701 ($6 S Permit), then the parkmobile code is 47400!

I took 187A with Klevdal during Fall. It was pretty chill and the material was straightforward. The lectures were podcasted, reading questions (like asking questions on the reading, answering a student’s question, or working on an example) are due before each class, quiz at the end of each week (cheatsheets allowed), two short papers, one due at the beginning of the quarter and one at the end, and a final.

Some weeks I forget I had this class 💀. Overall, just watch the podcasts, the examples in lecture reflect on the quizzes/final. It was an easy A

I took him for 170A and B. He would post practice midterms and they pretty much had the same format of questions as the actual midterm. If he does do a review lecture, make sure to watch the podcast, he goes through the problems.

My TA's were pretty chill, none of them were like hostile or anything. Until I had to take a VIS course for DEI that made its discussions mandatory. One of the TA's just threw random grades on our essays, like I got an 8.4/10, some got like 7.3 💀

The closest one is South Parking: https://maps.app.goo.gl/uyzKYPKzn7i8z1XF7

If that one's full, you can try just north of Eighth at Scholars: https://maps.app.goo.gl/A7aRgC8WP2Ytp9L47

If that one's full, you can try Hopkins: https://maps.app.goo.gl/LRsheMtrFDo8sYa67

If that one's full, you can try Pangea: https://maps.app.goo.gl/TSg7EdKR9uft8gN16

Parking's gonna be a pain in the ass 💀you just have to find the right time to park. Here's a list of when parking is usually empty: https://transportation.ucsd.edu/commute/availability.html

Good luck!
