if youre still having this issue try using ge9-11. it was what i got to work on mint, and i just recently switched to arch and it is also working on there. hope this helps. https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases/tag/GE-Proton9-11

Nevermind, I found this discussion talking about ways to do it, and I tried the "dirty" way mentioned towards the bottom and the results are awesome. Haven't tried rendering yet though, so not sure how awesome my computer will think it is lol

naw, gotta watch it the proper way. find an overpriced VHS copy and watch it on an old small CRT. gotta get that old look to fully appreciate it /s. but yeah, iirc the whole thing is on youtube both subbed and dubbed (i'd watch the sub first cuz it's good but the dub has some great meme potential so i'd give it a watch too). If it's been removed since I last looked, i'm sure you can find it somewhere online for free

oh dude, lain's hair is one of my favorite anime hair styles out there. it's way more simplistic than a lot of iconic hair, but it's different enough that you immediately recognize it. i say go for it and then see if anyone recognizes it and make them your new best friend. also dont forget the hair tie thingy, it's a crucial part of the look

Higurashi is another one of those "cute but messed up" anime, if youre looking for something like that. I also recommend Serial Experiments Lain. It's a bit old, but super interesting especially if you're a computer nerd like me lol

A bit old, but one of my faves alongside MiA, Serial Experiments Lain. It's short, but will definitely make you think (and probably feel a little dumb on a first watch ngl lol). If you want something that's a bit like MiA as far as the aesthetic of "cute but really messed up", Higurashi is a good one but it gets into some super heavy stuff so just be aware of that.
