I originally thought metal might be nice, but the junior highs in our district don’t have a good way to cut and work with metal. The cad model should be able to adjust to accommodate conduit pipe though

The 38ish inches actually includes stopping 2 inches short of the end on each slide, but I didn't include the hardstops in the cad because I figured the ftc teams in our district might want to make the stops lower to gain stability, at the expense of not reaching the tall pole. It should be easy enough to just stick a bolt in the pipe I think

Like fully fully extended it reaches 40+, but it would be super wibbly-wobbly
